How big is the change to a I9? Is it like when the 486 went to a Pentium?

@Markus - A change from what? The previous (8th gen) processors? Probably not huge from an 8th to a 9th gen Intel Core, however, the one in my computer right now is a 4th Gen Core i7 ... which is a HUGE difference.
The 8th/9th gen procs are a huge step up from the 7th gen ones. For me, my i7-4770 (non "k") processor is a 4 core with Hyperthreading (giving it 8 threads). It cannot be overclocked. The i9-9900k is an 8/16 (core/thread) proc, which can be overclocked. Not that I'm a huge tweaker as far as my computers go, I think it's time I've upgraded my computer to something newer. The one I have has lasted me over five years.
The i7-4770 proc was not anywhere close to being the top of the line when I bought it, but it was decent. It still runs decent. I just want more and I believe the i9-9900k will give that to me for the next 5+ years.
With my luck, Intel will come out with a newer architecture right after I get whatever I'm going to get. Just my luck, lol. I guess it would drive the price of the 9900k down, though, lol.

I have just discovered that James Bond was real. As in, there was a proper, bone-fide SOE spy, who worked with Ian Fleming, called James Bond.

The Ian Fleming story is also interesting: he was too valuable to let out into the field
Looks like a > 50% increase
