@DatsunZ1 sorry.. not sure what you mean by "fixed tdi"?

@motosubatsu I suppose he means a VW Diesel with a software update where the emission cheat got fixed
@motosubatsu sorry, in my last sentence do I need a "where" or "were"?

@Martin where
i did wonder whether that was what he meant

@motosubatsu ok, thank you
@DatsunZ1 A trusted mechanic told me that the original EGR valve will take issue with the emission fix and needs replacing soon

@DatsunZ1 if a "fixed" VW is what you mean then as @Martin says there is a knock on effect to the EGR valve - basically the "fix" involves splitting what was previously a single fuel injection into multiple injections - and this means more EGR cycles so the valves fail much sooner then they would have done before hand
VAG has been either covering the cost of a replacement or contributing a "goodwill" payment in some cases.. but unsurprisingly they aren't exactly making it easy
You might be able to mitigate this with frequent cleaning of the EGR but what would worry me more is the reports I've seen of increased load on the DPF - if that fails on you things are going to get pretty expensive pretty quickly!
