9:26 AM
Morning all
spent most of yesterday afternoon getting re-acquainted with just how much "fun" it is trying to undo seized bolts on a car

1 hour later…
10:42 AM
another of those auto bumped questions ...
0
Q: Can this piece of metal be straighten after an accident...?

NoahI was involvedin a front collision accident and my left side had some damage(headlights, hood, brackets etc..) Car drove fine and alignment was correct and no mechanical problems. The biggest worry for me is those two bent body panels that I have circled. Can these be straighten...?? They got be...

11:22 AM
yeah the "Community" bumps stuff after a while if it doesn't have an accepted answer

1 hour later…
12:36 PM
@motosubatsu care to share the pain and suffering fun and joy you had to endure got to enjoy?

12:46 PM
@Zaid I was (attempting) to change discs and pads on my WRX with a view to getting it back on the road - unfortunately because it's been sat for some time everything was seized to f##k. Took me over an hour to get the two main caliper bolts loose, then could I get it to come free of the disc? could I heck.
By this point it was getting dark, and given the need to put the Audi back on the drive and the fact that the Subaru was completely blocking the entire front potion of the drive I had to put everything back together and move it out of the way
So Subaru:1 motosubatsu: 0

@motosubatsu but Edd China makes it look so easy :)
@motosubatsu meant to link the last message here

1:06 PM
tbf last time I did the brakes on one of these it was easy - but then the car was in regular use and it was in a well lit, dry workshop with a two post lift
not a cold damp driveway with jacks and axlestand

And here I yearn for winter so that I can work outdoors...

@Zaid Move here on the summer? :)

@Zaid I think you and I might have very different ideas of what "winter" means :)

Speaking of which, my weird job is going to have me out in the cold all day today. Our winters aren’t the worst but OMFG the wind over the water is a force multiplier! 🥶

@BobCross I know what you mean.. predominately the winds here blow in from the Irish sea, and in winter that means they are bitingly cold

1:22 PM
@motosubatsu yes indeed :)

luckily the winds had died down a bit yesterday - Saturday was Force 7 winds which is not fun
@Zaid where's home?

Yeah, that! Except that I am right at the waters edge. The wind over the bay is starting to kick up whitecaps. It’s like an ice drill of frosty awfulness!

@motosubatsu I live in Qatar

@Zaid ok then.. your weather right now is basically a hot summer here

Well it can get biting cold at night... It is a desert after all
But that's a few months away

1:29 PM
@Zaid erm... depends what you mean by "biting" - a quick google suggests that temps might dip below 10°C at night in Winter, for comparison it's currently 7°C here, and that's as hot as it's going to get all day! :D
and it's been quite a mild winter so far

There's more to weather than temperature, As @BobCross was saying windchill is a gamechanger

@Zaid very true.. and I imagine the desert doesn't do much in the way of providing a wind brake

1:56 PM
The windchill right now is worth 10 degrees F (which is the equivalent of 27 degrees Calphalon ;-)

@BobCross Windchill's actually not that severe here at the moment
which makes a nice change

2:41 PM
Having been out here a bit, I’m going to say that windchill is actually no joke today!
