When I worked for Robert Bosch we were forcibly transitioned to "Skype for Business". (This was several years ago.) It was going to seriously improve our productivity, because all manner of inter-office stuff could be done with video, even across the Atlantic.
Well in its infancy it didn't work, and gave out all sorts of cryptic error messages. Clicking on "help" links were blocked by the core-poor-rate firewall as "Content Not Allowed: Chat and Social Media"
It was so ironic I screen-printed in color and hung it over my desk. My brand of humor not much appreciated. I don't work there anymore...

@SteveRacer - I guess they'll get over it, eh? :o)

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Probably threw a big party with beer and brats. And even additionally moreso rude-like, I wasn't invited. Pfffffft! DO NOT BUY YOUR LASER PARENTERAL SYRINGE DRUG INSPECTION MACHINES from BOSCH! They totally don't respect my humor....

@juhist - Just so you know, I upticked your tire answer. The OP had switched their check mark from yours to mine back to yours while I was sitting their looking at it, lol! How funny is that? :o)

Q: Should I share my opinion of my former manager (from a different company) who's interviewing to be my new manager?

NotADogI previously worked under "Mr Jones", who was a terrible team leader/manager - no shielding from stakeholders, no support with issues, promised the world to stakeholders and the team but never delivered and the entire team ended up leaving. Enter my new job, where my new manager is resigning and...

I've actually done this before. I knew guys who I worked with/for while in the Army which I gave my feedback to hiring managers when I saw they were interviewing someone. They weren't hired. I don't know if it was because of my feedback or because they didn't get an offer, but still, they weren't hired. I think it's very pertinent for a current employee to give such feedback.

@Zaid WTF is “glyptal?”

@DavidLively an oil-resistant coating

@DavidLively - DUDE!! You haven't been watching much Jafro, have you???? You SLACKER!

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 yeah... I’m all for helping out friends and former co-workers, but if they weren’t someone you’d like to work with again... it’s important to be honest. Ultimately, it won’t work out for the candidate or the company in the long run unless they’ve changed. On the other hand, sometimes all it takes is getting fired or laid off to get someone to wake up and do their job.
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 yeah. I have SOOO much time. :)

2:36 PM
I kept the non-rev up heads on the G35. I pulled the ones off of the old motor, shrink-wrapped them and stuffed them on a shelf. I was going to swap them onto the new (to me) engine, but it took half a day to get them off of the engine that’s NOT in a car.

The VQ35DE is the most over-engineered engine I’ve ever touched. It looks about 20% larger than an LS and only makes 300HP. The Solstice is a LEGO project by comparison.
@Zaid I have trouble reconciling the title of that video with the CRX that’s in the thumbnail.

@DavidLively - It does say "Modified" in the title.

Well, the video is pretty interesting

Greatest "modified" drag race.

2:38 PM
Especially for Civic owners like @Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2

But, it runs great, now. Fun fact: my car came with wideband upstream O2 sensors, but the donor 350Z had narrow-band. Despite that, the Z computer recognizes the wideband sensors. (I swapped them from the old motor just to test.) No codes or anything. It’s weird. Everyone says that ECM should not work with the G35 harness, and yet it doe.
Ok, back to Super Civics.
*does
So, glyptal is like Scotch Guard for metal?

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2, or anyone that cares about cars... Have you seen this?

@JPhi1618 - Oh, that's some awesome advertisement going on right there ;-)
"Cast out the Demon"
... and no, had not seen it before.

@JPhi1618 That’s pretty. Hasn’t Hennessey been a Dodge shop, like, forever?

@DavidLively - Not that I'm aware of ... they've been doing GM for as long as I've known (could be wrong and missed something though)

2:49 PM
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Hmmm... I didn’t realize that. I think they used to do some pretty serious Viper mods.. (Now there’s a car that doesn’t really need more power.) (Crazy talk, I know.)

@DavidLively = You could be right. The Viper is squirly enough without more power.

3:00 PM
1000hp, bet that thing eat tires.

@JPhi1618 - And then some.
@DavidLively - You could definitely be right ...

3:50 PM
You want complete carnage? Here you go ...
I don't think I'd want to clean up that dyno room ... what a MESS! I'd send @DavidLively in to do the deed. :o)

Q: 1 year old car is dead, called the car dealer they can fix it only if I can bring it, what should I do?

Maurizio CarboniI have a new Toyota Prius (2017 model), bought between 12-13 months ago. The car recently has gone totally mad. So I arranged a booking to get it checked out, but the car won't start. On top of that the car dealer isn't close. When I called them they said I should ask my insurance to bring th...

Does a dealer tow your car in under warranty?

@JPhi1618 - Depends on the dealership/manufacturer.
Some will, but I'd say most won't.

I would hope that I didn't have to pay for a tow, but I would understand if they wanted me to and then reimbursed once the issue was determined.

Insurance will usually offer towing, at least here in the States.

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Yea, gotta say I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't. Wouldn't be happy, but wouldn't be surprised.

3:58 PM
@JPhi1618 yeah this pretty much.. with such a relatively new car I'd be pushing for them to come and collect it but I guess it would depend on how quickly I needed the car back as to whether I would blink first or not

@JPhi1618 - You don't expect a 13 month old car to go kaput.

That guys issue is that the insurance won't tow it from home to the dealer. If they broke down somewhere else, they probably would.
I'd push it over to the neighbors house and then tell insurance I broke down somewhere (not home).

@JPhi1618 - I'd be getting new insurance. Doesn't help in this single instance, but would going forward. The insurance I have will give you one tow for any single breakdown.

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2, that's a good policy. I should actually check what I have. Do you use one of the big... 4? companies?
5 I guess.

USAA
I don't know what you consider the "big" companies, lol

4:02 PM
Nice. Any idea how tangental your relationship with the military can be and still get into USAA?

I don't think it's a huge issue to get USAA, no matter your relationship to the military.

I was thinking Geico, Progressive, State Farm, Allstate, Liberty Mutual.
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Hmm, ok. I thought you had to be closely related to someone that served.

Not sure, really

My Uncle-in-law is a Colonel I think.
He's pretty high up there in the Army.
@motosubatsu, nice Holiday avatar.

On their website it states: " ... eligible family members ... "

4:06 PM
Yea, that's vague.

Clicking through their website, if you've served, your parents served, or if your parents/spouse has ever joined USAA, you can join.
It would seem your Uncle is probably too tangential.

Yea, that's what I assumed.

It’s worth telling the kids “never let go of USAA”. My kids have definitely had the talk.

@JPhi1618 thanks :)
