@DavidLively - Looking at the video, I went out and looked at mine which has the same setup (go figure). I have to say, the crank and PS pulleys line up exactly on mine. Well, close enough you cannot see any difference (don't know if it's exactly exact or not, lol). I'm wondering if your crank pulley has walked some? THAT would not be a pretty thing.

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 That would be par for the course.

Does it wobble any when the engine is running?

Nope.

Mine does, lol.

I swapped the tensioner out a little while ago, and everything seems fine.

12:25 AM
But it's been like that for about 6.5 years

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Yeah. Well, Vortec.
Awesome engine, last forever...

@DavidLively - Good, just keep an eye on it.

not the most precise construction apparently.
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Definitely. Thanks for your input.

@DavidLively - No lie. Wish mine was a 6.2L

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 It's pretty awesome. 403HP / tq. It gets up and moves.

I have the L33 aluminum block.

Towed the SOS a few weeks ago, barely noticed it back there.
L33? If you wreck the truck, I'll take the engine off of your hands.

which has like 10 more HP than the LM7, but who's counting.

Well, you are, apparently. :)
Aren't we all?

I will probably put in a 6.2 or 6.0 in it before I'd wreck it.

Yeah. Sounds like fun.
It got pretty hot when the belt popped - upper end of the temp gauge - but seems to be fine so far. I do NOT want to buy one of those motors.

12:28 AM
I've got grandiose ideas of building a 408 or 416 for it ... with LS3 heads ... heh ... Yah, 600+ chp, baby!

Nice.

The LS motors are flippin' amazing engines.

One day, the Solstice will be the "I can't drive it. Every time I glance at the pedal, the rear tires burn off" car.

I heard they're going overhead cam on the next 'Vette. :(

12:29 AM
What I was getting at, though, if I go to a bigger engine, I'll see if you want the L33 at that point.

I know they did that on the Mercruiser / Lotus ZR1 motor (C4), too complicated.
:)
Please do.

@DavidLively - DOHC ... uh, yah.
It was a monster ... but not at the tire, lol.
Is your 6.2 an iron block?

405hp on the last 96 ZR1, I think - not enough to justify the complexity, I think.
Mine? yes
Aluminum heads, I think. That's the only part I'm really worried about.

I knew the LQ4/9's were, but didn't know if the larger 6.2 Vortecs were
@DavidLively - I don't think you'd have much to worry about.

I saw a massive leak after the test drive while looking under the hood. It was condensation.

12:32 AM
Yah, that can be scary! :o)
A/C is working good?
;-)

Yes, works great.
I'll check the pressure on it tomorrow.

Anyway, I'm going to play a couple rounds of TF2 ... I'll catch up with you later.

Still not exactly sure what happened tyo start with.
Have fun! cheers.

I can't say for certain, but I seem to recall that one of the 6 cylinder engines that ended up in the Colorado has a similar "not quite lined up" allignment for the belts

After playing with it, I don't see how the pulley could've shifted. The think it's always been that way. Oh well, works fine now after ~60 miles. Going to recharge the SOS AC tomorrow morrow. Finally found the oil capacity - 4oz, 26oz of R134. Of course it comes in 12oz cans. Like 10 hot dogs and 8 buns. :(
