I think I figured out the damn noise. My alternator belt is very loose, it was probably slipping. I'll tighten it later, not sure how it got loose in the first place (probably because during the long trip it pulled the alternator for too long + vibration). So glad it wasn't something worse, was starting to think it could be some bearings from the timing belt tensor or the water pump
I wonder why the noise faded away on higher speeds, probably the higher speed makes the belt tension a bit more

Hi guys. Quick question if I don’t mind. I'm looking at buying a car pegeout 807 which according to the MOT history had a minor gear box oil leak which was corrected immediately after the MOT failed.

The car did 4077 mile in that year. I'm thinking perhaps the oil could have leaked out at slow pace and then been driven around with no gear box oil for say 2000 miles.

If so would this cause any issues or is it unlikely any significant amount of oil drained out. The car is an auto how can I know if the gearbox was affected? Provided there are no noises should I assume all is well and just …
