12:13 AM
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Dude was a little insistent, some people have a hard time assuming they might be wrong.. At least at the end others came around and tried to come up with some solutions

13 hours later…
12:45 PM
@IanC - And the sight glass is what I'm going to go with. Not the model he showed, but rather a disk shaped one. I'll post up some pics when I get the parts ordered.

3 hours later…
3:50 PM
Our lockdown has been relaxed a little - so tomorrow I am going to drive nearly 50 miles to visit my in-laws. And sit in their garden chatting. Sounds boring, but I can't wait - haven't really seen other humans, aside from our neighbours, for a couple of months

2 hours later…
5:59 PM
Sounds good @RoryAlsop, have fun there!
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 It was a good idea, can you do it at home or will you need to take the block to a machinist?

6:40 PM
@IanC - It just goes in the pan, which is stamped steel. I can do it at home.

7:14 PM
Cool, a power drill will do the job then?
I thought it required some very fine precision, at least you won't have to dismount the engine again

7:35 PM
@IanC - Oh, the engine has to come out to do it ... which doesn't make me happy at all, but is what it is. Had I noticed it in the first place, it would have saved me a HUGE amount of effort.
And yes, a hand drill with a step bit will do the job.

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 I feel you, worse than doing a hard task is having to do it again :p

@IanC - Exactly

When I did that water pump job I had to disassembly and reassembly the crankshaft pulley like 7 or 8 times
Every time I had to lock the flywheel, not fun, taking an engine out is much worse!
But at least you'll have a definitive solution and will be enjoying the camaro soon enough :)

@IanC - It's not overly difficult ... just takes some time. It will probably take me about 2 hours at most to pull.

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 That's the last thing left to finish the car?

7:42 PM
Who knows, lol

At least the last known thing left to finish? haha

I've not even gotten it started yet. I'm not going to put the sight glass in until after I get it running and first oil change.

You should record the first start for us to see! Can't wait for you to get it running

I can't wait either ... I'll see what I can do about the video, lol.

I'm thinking of making a engine job on my motorcycle, should be much simpler than a car engine but still my first time
It's smoking for a while now
It's a small CC honda, so they sell the kit with piston, rings and the whole cylinder box

8:00 PM
@IanC - Sounds like fun!

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Either that or a nightmare, but only trying it will reveal which one haha

Well, if it needs to be fixed, it's one of those things which needs to be done. Sounds like a good learning project to me :o)

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 It's riding fine right now, just burning oil, still a good starting point to learn. Just want to check that my car is in good shape before removing the engine from my bike :p

@IanC - Sounds like a prudent plan. You need transportation.

8:26 PM
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Car looks fine though, except for my stereo that stopped working (I did the wiring myself and rechecked, it's all fine, I have a theory of what could have happened), and that small noise that I'm almost sure is the crankshaft pulley slightly touching the timing belt cover bolt
