I learned a thing today: Golf R owners wave. That was one thing I was definitely missing, leaving the WRX community (at least for my daily driver). Golf Rs are pretty rare where I live and I was surprised with the wave this afternoon. So that was nice! ;-)
In related news, GTI owners do not wave. Oooo, boy, they sure don't!

@BobCross that's a bit like driving a classic car here - almost all classic drivers wave at each other, except for MGB owners, who will only wave at other MGB owners...

It's a big thing with the WRX drivers - my younger son started asking me years ago "Why are all these people waving to you?" :-)

@BobCross @NickC - Nothing new as I've seen it with Corvette drivers and motorcycle riders. Motorcycle riders were easy to spot doing this. I never realized Corvette drivers did it until I was driving my friend's Corvette from Montana to Idaho one time ... getting waves from all the other Corvette drivers. It is a cool thing, very friendly. It's neat to know there are other people out there who recognize you as such and communicate it if even through a small hand gesture.
There are about a billion Chevy Silverados on the road ... it would never happen due to that ;-)

The funny thing is going to the Golf R: they're very rare where I live. Where we live, you'll see a zillion WRXs and GTIs. I've seen three other Rs in the last month.

@BobCross - Oh, I'm sure they'll pop out of the woodwork as time goes on. Agree, though, there really isn't as many of the R variant as of the normal. I would bet VW holds back production on them ... it would be like comparing a ZL1 1LE Camaro to an RS ... you just aren't going to see as many of them around.
