@JonathanAllan I implemented Ðe and Ðo like that because that's how ¦ is implemented. If they weren't implemented like that it might be hard to do something like this but maybe it would be worth having a one byte €¦ as well

I thought ¦ should behave like this when I first used it too. I'm not sure how often that code you posted (or other similar code) would be useful.

(implementing it the other way allows the function to error on values for which it is not called, which would be another bonus IMO)
