I'd say that it's usually chloride (HCl/NaNO2 being the conditions to generate the cation from the amine).

there is an almost anti-periplanar conformation which (w|c)ould result in an elimination product methyl hexene, but that's 3.5 kcal higher in energy

so i'd say it is virtually impossible
