Is there any way for me to get notified wether a particular question has been answered?

@Mithoron because I was looking for a good answer :-)
@AvnishKabaj subscribe to its RSS feed, there's a link at the bottom of every question page

Oh
Lemme see
I can't find it
On the desktop site too

12:42 AM
It's right below the HNQ list on the desktop site

1:01 AM
@GaurangTandon Found it
But doesn't work for mobiles

1:26 AM
@AvnishKabaj mark it as a favourite (star button below the voting buttons), then you get a SE notification when there is a new answer

@orthocresol huh, when did this happen? I have tons of favorites but never got a notification :/
One question though, perhaps it is something obvious but I still don't understand it, why don't the users - those who don't want to look at old bumped posts - use the Newest Questions page, instead of the front page?

@orthocresol I don't get notifications after marking it as a favorite
Looks like I'll have to ask on Meta Stackexchange why RSS feeds don't work on phones
@GaurangTandon it took me time to understand but it's very important that the active questions page isn't clogged up
Stackexchange is built upon quality and a major part of that is peer review
The users need to see every new answer and vote accordingly

okay, that's confusing
I'm probably wrong then

@AvnishKabaj I know that well, and I didn't intend to ask this as an excuse to start bumping dozens of posts again. The point here is that there are users who don't wish to look at bumped old content, let alone peer review the edits. So, the Newest Questions page serves them well.
@orthocresol your monthly salary will be deducted. Reason: mod passing wrong information to users. :P

@GaurangTandon There is difference between old content being bumped up after editing and after answering
They don't want to see old answered questions

1:41 AM
Oh, you're very right
Perhaps, if on mobile, it could show "modified by xyz" and "answered by xyz" clearly, the same way it does on desktop, that could be some help

@JavaScriptCoder our chess game ended and I've no clue why :/

chemistry.stackexchange.com/q/95619/5026 @AvnishKabaj this question went from a negative score to a humble +3 score. High five for the edits! :D

@GaurangTandon I just scanned it
You're the one who OCR'ed and molded it

@orthocresol you're definitely wrong, as usual

@Martin-マーチン I really wish to know why you used to use \mathcal in your earlier posts (especially to format the ideal gas constant $\mathcal{R}$). There was never a mention of this on meta either :/

Q: How does concentration affect reaction rate?

ChemistryIsHardI recently underwent an experiment involving changing the concentration of hydrogen peroxide using potassium iodide as a catalyst and calculated the reaction rates. I cannot seem to find any patterns/trends with the results. Is it due to random errors or is there something I am missing. And what ...

"I recently underwent an experiment..." oh my god xD

haha
ok i figured out an interesting way: now whenever I come across an old question that does need an edit, however, if I am already out of my edit quota for that day, I just pin that tab. So, that when the next day I open the browser, I can edit it first
will have to see how this workflow will work out

I say it won't
You love editing
Rationing ain't gonna do nothing

no i won't edit; i'll just pin the tab
(on desktop, right click -> pin tab; on chrome)

how can we make piciric acid from benzene
in ncert there is given that by inroducing two so3h grouos
but what do we there....we are making it even more deacticated

I don't know the answer, but did you mean 'from phenol'? @starunique2016

Q: Preparation of picric acid

biogirlMy textbook says "Nowadays picric acid is prepared by treating phenol first with concentrated sulfuric acid which converts it to phenol-2,4-disulfuric acid and then with concentrated nitric acid to get 2,4,6-trinitrophenol" My question: Why is this a better method than simply treating phenol wit...

Make phenol by diazotization

yes or by giving it cl2,feck3,naoh and then inroducing it to a acid

Side question: @AvnishKabaj How much of organic have you learnt? You know much. More than what a student for JEE is expected to know at this point of year. I think.

2:00 PM
@DivyankaChaudhari Just something here and there
I don't like studying
But I like organic-chemistry

Like when you see a thing, you're like "I should know this. Let's learn"

Nah more like I suck at math and organic seems interesting so let's not study math and fail at math but know a lot of useless stuff about orgo

You will get help by posting a proper question along with your proper attempt presented and not by adding tens of ps after helpppp. — Abcd 6 mins ago
@Abcd There is no need to bash new users

Does reputation decrease by 1 everytime one downvotes?

@AvnishKabaj it was very irritating

I agree
Totally

I never noticed it. So, I downvoted and un-downvoted an answer several times to see that.

@Abcd forget new users, you really don't need to waste your time attempting to talk to these imperative, help-me, textbook questions. These usually get mod-closed within a day, and get auto-deleted within ten days.
Downvote, get them off the front page, and move on

Deleted my question.
@orthocresol Please let me know why hydrogen bond isnt possible there

7:04 PM
@Abcd Well... it's what I said in my comment, really. Try building a molecular model, for example, and "stretching" the N-H so that it can meet the other nitrogen...
You'll find that it's going to be pretty tough, if it's possible at all.
And even if you can, that N–H···N bond angle is going to be something like 90°, when ideally you want it to be 180°.

Q: Why did I get negative vote?

thedarkprogrammerI am really curious , what did I do wrong ? This is not a hate topic I just want to learn so that next time I won't get . What can be the reason ? the link :Is that backtracking?

Actually kinda sad

8:29 PM
@orthocresol just bend it with your hand
And if that's not possible, do it with something like pentaethyl benzene
@AvnishKabaj that's blunt, not rude
If you do something stupid and childish, you deserve a blunt and parentish response
Congrats @Abcd for becoming a father
@GaurangTandon he's the hydrogen peroxide

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ haha, lol!

@GaurangTandon ha, I did too. Because it looks cool

It's most definitely somehow @ortho's fault

So that's what those trade off curves are called: Scaling relations
