@fredsbend To sum up my view: The "marriage" tag is currently being defined as conservative Christians define it. Liberal Christians disagree with that definition; so the tag does not represent Christianity as a whole. In that case, this being a secular site, the secular definition of "marriage" prevailing in the country and culture in which this site is based should take precedence.

@LeeWoofenden Unfortunately I remain unconvinced. Either way, since we've been doing that way for months now, you should male a new meta post.

@fredsbend IOW, status quo rules, right or wrong. Even though there wasn't consensus to use that definition in the first place. I'm not going to do a lot of make-work to change something that shouldn't have been done in the first place. Starting another meta post won't accomplish anything more than pointing out that the original meta post on this subject was in error.

@LeeWoofenden Many things are done without consensus. The only real objection received on my post until you answered was two downvotes. There were also nine upvotes. Nine ups is a pretty good indicator that the majority of this community is on board with a proposal. I also waited about five months before trying to change anything, which goes to review queue, btw.
If you're not going to make a meta post what would you rather have done?
I suppose you can just to straight to editing the tags, which will go to the review queue. I know I would reject the edits. In light of the history of the community working to define those tags, just making the edits seems like the wrong approach. So what does that leave us with?
Is is that you think meta posts don't accomplish anything, or that a meta post on this issue offering your suggestions would not do anything?
For the former, I'm afraid I can't help you. You don't think the system works. For the latter, you never know and you won't until you try.
You started with quite a passion:

But as I said in my comments there, I think this is a very important issue. And I'm actually quite fired up about it. It's important enough, I think, that I am seriously considering appealing to the parent company.
And now you're telling met that you're not even willing to write out a simple meta post.
