Q: Can I (reasonably) refuse to sign an NDA for pro bono work?

kojiroA friend of mine (let's call him Joe) is working on a promising project, and has asked me for help. As a matter of friendship I agreed (orally) not to discuss the details, but now he has a potential investor who wants me to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA). Since thus far all my work has bee...

This has been flagged for possible migration -- I think it's a little too much on the legal side of things rather than the workplace side of things. What do you all think?

@jcmeloni This really reminds me of a question that would actually be a better fit for OnStartups. The issue here is ownership stake and compensation for risk in the startup. While it could blur the line a bit into Workplace, I don't think it crosses the line enough to warrant migration. Hope this helps! :)

@jcmeloni I don't really see the legal aspect as being vital really. He's not asking if it's illegal or anything. "You never have to sign a contract, but they never have to let you keep working" should be enough...
