@Kilisi Most people in the "First world" countries forget that. The ones who do have parents or grandparents who reminded them.

@Old_Lamplighter I would have thought almost every family in the First World was affected. Perhaps they do remember but think it's irrelevant because it's not on youtube.... hehe
Probably all down to whether the leaders say 'We have a moral obligation to decry this terrible invasion'.... or 'We have a moral obligation to invade', propaganda does the rest I assume.

@Kilisi That's another problem. People have come to think if it's not on the internet, it's not real. We have a particular problem of being so dumbed down in America. People think everyone is lying to them unless it's coming from people they are inclined to believe

12:35 PM
@Old_Lamplighter In World politics and national conflicts... everyone is lying.... hehe
I don't think USA people are dumbed down more than anyone else.... every place tries to brainwash their populace to some extent
At least you're all educated over there and can make informed choices.
With the internet, social media including SO all push agendas or block agendas... not a whole lot different.

1:24 PM
@Kilisi We're not that educated. Even as old as I am, I was never exposed to the classics, so I went out and bought them on my own, including the strange case of Doctor Jekyll and mister Hyde, Aristotle's Ethics. The thing is is that I was always an avid reader. Kids come out of school these days and don't know how to think. They are taught to obey authority without question. Very easily lead. Remember all that pronoun nonsense a few years ago in here?
It's gotten worse, there is even such a thing as "cake gender", complete with the accompanying neo-pronouns

2:25 PM
@Old_Lamplighter exactly, you can read so have an avenue to find things out. Over here a University degree is not a guarantee that the person can actually read and write.

@Kilisi It's getting like that here. Degrees are being given out for the most useless of majors and tens of thousands in debt where your degree is worth about as much as the rag you use to wipe the counters with at the starbucks you work at

2:55 PM
@Old_Lamplighter everyone can't be a scientist or they'd make peanuts, so the useless degrees serve an important purpose
I don't begrudge anyone their sociology or comparative theology degree....
Music history degree was a funny one I came across in a CV

I started out as a music and education major, and ended up in computers
