Hunts! You described it perfectly! it is NASTY! Heinz is at the opposite end, and both will invoke the wrath of a chef if you put it on a steak they prepared.

I am convinced that ketchup was invented to cover the taste of low quality food. With Hunts, I am pretty sure that it was used to disguise bad food by giving you something even worse to taste

@JoeStrazzere this stuff, neither too sweet nor sour. It can be used as a condiment with anything. For those poor days it can even be spread on bread for a tasty meal at a pinch. I found the ketchup flavour to be overpowering rather than complimentary.

I've been eating USA food for a week as my wifes family sent her a big box full. I like the pork, the ham and the beef. But the biscuits and sauce I can live without. I'm not even going to try the cheese after a previous bad experience.
