@motosubatsu Thanks!!
@Old_Lamplighter Thank you!!
@Old_Lamplighter You see that is a strength that I don't have yet ... I am not a very social person ... I mean I am not socially awkward ... but I find it hard to communicate with people when I don't know them. But I am trying to be better ...
@Old_Lamplighter This is great advice. I am trying to talk to everyone I meet, but I don't meet a lot of people ... that is another reason I did the career fair ...
to make some connections ...
Finding a good job is so hard ...

@Old_Lamplighter It's extremely common to see "designed" resumes these days. Fancy layouts and graphics, sliding bars for skills and whatnot. It sort of has the same effect but as long as it doesn't detract from the content I'd say it's fine.
But the old advice of colours to distinguish your printed CV from the pack, yeah that's been dead for years, ;)
I prefer a more minimalist design for my resume, especially since I don't really have the space to waste on fancy graphics. But they do add some colour.
But you really don't want to be the person in the interview who stands out because of the fancy resume rather than the impressive profile.
@AIQ Ooh, congrats. And good luck. Not a bad place to work from what I've heard. Are you pursuing B4s and consulting then?

So my moderator candidate score is 7. I'm pretty sure lots of people are more suited than I.

@Lilienthal Yeh I never understand the sliding or the 5 dot skill scale ... How would an employer know what a specific applicant's 3 in Excel really is?
@Lilienthal To be honest, I never intended to ... I didn't even go to the top 100 schools ... and I don't really have strong skills or experiences for someone who would work there ... I saw a posting in PwC that was about economics and policy - and that is more my area than say tax or accounting ... so I guess now I know that with a bit of more work and tech skills I can get there ... so yeah I am going to pursue the big fours now

@snow My score comes in somewhere on "NOT ON YOUR LIFE"
@AIQ trying to rate yourself in Excel is like trying to calculate the last digit of Pi. A waste of time, and no practical use.

@AIQ Not sure if your region is similar to the US with target schools but that concept doesn't exist here. I don't think there's a reason not to apply. You only really need 1 cover letter mostly to cover several of the large firms as well.
