@JoeStrazzere I would agree, but some people are returning to work, some are working from home, so the problems with the career, problems still should be happening.

@JoeStrazzere I think the slowdown started some time before the COVID situation caused a mess in the World.

@JoeStrazzere it may have accelerated the decline, but the conflict prior made many people quite angry. This and Meta are the last ones I have, and I'm shutting down my Meta this week

@Gintas It seem to me that it was a sharp decline as the pandemic sent people home. But that's just a perception. Maybe someone could show some data.
@Old_Lamplighter I don't know what "the last ones I have" means in this context.
@Kilisi Perhaps. I'd love to see some data. Perhaps someone fluent in queries can produce a chart.
@Gintas My sense is that a significant portion of members here post questions/answers/comments from work. They do so while they are working, because it's a non-work action that wouldn't be noticed by others. When you are working from home you don't need to worry about the "wouldn't be noticed" part, so if you need a breather or distraction from work, you can do lots of things without turning to The Workplace. Just an idea, no data behind it...

3:23 PM
@JoeStrazzere I think that's definitely been a factor during the COVID-era

@JoeStrazzere I've deleteed all of my SE profiles except TWP and Meta SE, Meta SE is going this week
@motosubatsu COVID did throw a spanner in the works for quite a few things. I think we will never know how much damage it caused/will cause vs how often it's being blamed for things that were happining/going to happen anyway. It's hard to even guess

So you guys say basically this site and the world network of stack exchange went downhill after the Monica thing and ignorance from the company, that manages these sites?

@Gintas Some people believe that, but we have way to confirm if it was that or something else.CoVid has also happened and other things. You have to be careful with the whole correlation does not always equal causation.

6:39 PM
@Gintas it certainly didn't help matters.

@Draken ^^^^^^

6:52 PM
@JoeStrazzere that makes sense and is probably a big factor.... perhaps priorities have changed as well as people realise that the World will never be the same again even after this COVID stuff dies down.
@Old_Lamplighter why delete all your profiles?

7:30 PM
@Kilisi disgust, primarily.

8:05 PM
@Old_Lamplighter it's just the internet

@Gintas But for those working from home, a lot of the interpersonal workplace issues are either not happening or are more easily ignored. Or, if not ignored, are not as important as all the other problems they have right now.

8:26 PM
@BSMP Indeed.

8:36 PM
@Kilisi I don't think much will change.

@JoeStrazzere you're in the USA so perhaps not a great deal as even if it all fell to pieces the USA could be self sufficient. Other places will never be the same. Anywhere reliant on tourism or other external revenue streams will never be the same as the first World by necessity becomes more insular in outlook and foreign policy. We've been on lockdown for 6 months, most of the private sector is no longer active, unemployment is through the roof. People are doing silly things in desperation.
we've been on lockdown so long, that veges I put in the ground at the start are almost ready to eat
and the first World is dependent on the third and second for markets and other stuff, so bad news all around
only winner is China which is buying countries cheap
