@Lilienthal Yep, just survived massive round of layoffs, so lots of handovers and sad goodbyes today.

@Old_Lamplighter Oh that is scary ... just when I thought the economy was on its way to recovery ...

@AIQ It is. We were bought out, and our new parent company is doing a "realignment", and consolidation. They're using it to clean house and take petty revenge in a few cases. I do my job and don't make enemies, so I am fine for now, but boy the workload!

@AIQ Yep, always a dirty business. It's also why I follow three rules. 1)Never get involved in office politics, as alliances shift. 2)Do your job without complaint. 3)Be able to change your focus on a moment's notice.

Those are really good rules. The 3rd one seems difficult to follow ...

@AIQ Life is "change or die". I know of at least two people who have been shown the door because the business changed, and they didn't. Whatever you do for a living, always keep your skills up to date, and look for opportunities.

Case in point, at my current job, I was running out of work, so I started to double as an instructor.
