I went with "I was recently offered a position as a Data Scientist for another company, and unfortunately, it's an offer that I cannot decline." and then later on in the letter "Thank you for the opportunities that you have provided me during the last year and a half. I have truly enjoyed my tenure with company X, and am more than grateful for the encouragement you have given me in pursuing my professional and personal growth objectives." @anoplexian
- Just really highlight how much you have appreciated working for them
It's never easy to resign from a company that you really like and when they haven't done anything wrong
But as long as you're nice about it, they will understand it's just a professional decision and nothing personal

@Anoplexian "Dear friends and colleagues. I am resigning effective (date) to persue an opportunity at a new company. This is an exciting new challenge for me and a move that I feel I must make at this time. I have enjoyed my time here working for this company and with all of you. I am grateful for the time I spent here, and the opportunity to work with, and learn from all of you. I would just like to express my thanks at this time.
During my transition, please feel free to approach me with any questions you may have about any of my duties or anything I may do to make it easier for you. (then include your contact information if you like)

Ooo those are some great ideas. I was kinda going with "This is a perfect opportunity to further my career that I cannot pass up". Thanks for the help all!

@Anoplexian You can always write 2 letters. One "official" letter, which just states that you are resigning, and your last day will be X. And then separate personal letters to people you want to thank, expressing how much you appreciate what they've done for you and how much you regret having to leave.

Hello...hope everyone is safe and healthy. Employed would be nice too ;-}

@Neo pretty much tick all round
yourself?

Neo
Alive, entire family healthy, entire family employed. These days that is all you can ask for.
The handling of the virus here in the USA has been, well, poor.

glad to hear it ;)
@Neo yeah.. they haven't exactly done a great job here either but the US seems to be a real mess

Our youth mostly...Spring Breakers not even remotely giving a shit about social distancing....then you have other groups who feel their rights are being violated if the GOV says "Wear a mask in Public"

@Neo yeah we're in for a bit of the former effect I think - they re-opened pubs/bars at the weekend and drunk people aren't known for their ability to respect personal space at the best of times, let alone social distancing. The whole masks and rights thing I just don't get, there has to be something pretty f##ked up with someone who thinks that way

Wow, this place has changed in the past few months.
Very slow, and not just in chat.
