@VictorS I wouldn't have said so
jumping straight to "your boss is a douchebag" on the basis of one (potentially valid) bit of criticism is extreme

I'd agree. On the face of it, it seems like it's valuable feedback. It would be even more valuable if there was guidance on what kind of communication was needed, but it's valuable all the same.
The Lost in Space series actually turned out to be pretty good. I'd move it up your list if I were you.

@Snow yup.. just having a read through the answers on that question.. and good grief there's some utter tosh being written

10:30 AM
Morning working people

Good morning moderator person.

10:57 AM
@Snow how is it going today?

Morning all

@VictorS Morning (well, afternoon now!)

11:55 AM
@Snow How did it go?

Oh was very good thanks. Difficult, but interesting at the same time. Something to remember for a long time.

@Snow Glad to hear! Those types of experiences are priceless in my mind.

Shame I can't afford more lessons, getting a license is pretty expensive.

12:15 PM
@Snow yeah that seems like it could be pretty pricey
I thought about flying lessons..

I asked. It's about £20,000 just to get as far as obtaining a license.

@Snow Wow. That is an expensive hobby

And that cost is only for lessons. Must be a lot more to keep things going.

12:30 PM
@Snow Yeah I can only imagine. I don't think flight (airplane) lessons are nearly as expensive.

Still pretty good fun though. Better than 5 minutes in a supercar.

@Snow oh I bet!
I don't know if I could stomach a chopper ride. I do okay in planes though.

It's not so bad. Basically, it's the same as zooming out on google maps.

@Snow Except my chair leaves the ground.

and your stomach wouldn't?

12:37 PM
@Snow right.

wuss.

@Snow meh

12:58 PM
@MisterPositive yeah fixed wing is cheaper - still expensive though, probably talking £8,000 - £10,000 to get enough hours in to qualify

@motosubatsu yeah flying as a hoppy is expensive period.

@MisterPositive amen to that!

I do think it would be cool to have a CV that says SR Soft. Dev / Ace Pilot

1:14 PM
@MisterPositive hehe.. me too! At the rate I'm currently going it's gonna take me a while though

@motosubatsu yeah. kids in college = broke Mr. P

Good morning

@MisterPositive hehe.. I don't even have that excuse!
@bruglesco Morning!

@motosubatsu It's my own fault. ;-}

Hi all

A: My boss wants me to say on my timesheet that I worked 8 hours a day, even if I didn't

Southpaw HareTake both options. Fill out the timesheets that go to payroll the way that payroll wants them to be filled out. Then, create your own spreadsheet to track time accurately, and save that for your own records. Keep these in case you need to cover yourself for whatever reason. If you ever find s...

I was confident on my answer here, but now I'm not so sure
I've definitely worked at places where no one cares about timecards at all, and they're just a formality that not even the payroll department gives a crap about

I see where' you're coming from - but I think it would have the potential to bite you in the behind

But maybe this is more serious than that? Maybe timecards are always an important legal document, and companies that treat them otherwise are acting unethically?

@SouthpawHare it depends on the company, the employment contract and the jurisdiction
there isn't really a one-size-fits all answer

The downside to being a first-aider is having people bleeding over the carpet next to my desk.

@Snow stop stabbing them then
or put down some plastic sheeting if you must

2:45 PM
@Snow Better the carpet than someones meal
(I hate throwing away product because someone was careless enough to bleed on it)

Now we get to see if the cleaners will clean it before tomorrow. It's usually debatable whether we have cleaners or not...

@Snow some office cleaners exist in an as yet poorly understood quantum state
their presence appears to correlate inversely with the need for their services
sometimes they clean without ever being seen and sometimes they are seen but nothing actually gets any cleaner

most often, they're not seen and don't clean.

@Snow that too

3:33 PM
sooooo bored of our latest fictionist - it's not even as if the stories are entertaining
