Q: What should the name of our chat room be?

Yannis RizosI just used my super awesome mod powers to rename our main chatroom from the predictable and dry "The Workplace" to "The Water Cooler", on a whim. It's a cool name, suggested by Ben Brocka / Rarity / that guy who likes ponies, and it's a reminder of the Area51 days of the site. Several other si...

@YannisRizos Easier to ask forgiveness, I see...

We're in public beta! Woohoo!

Woohoo

I've never been involved in a private beta before, but that seemed like a pretty solid start to me!

Well, lots of activity certainly, I'm a bit concerned about quality though

8:48 PM
@BenBrocka what was the final percentage of questions that got shot down/closed?
I saw some lousy ones but on the whole they seem pretty good

Currently at 118 Open 17 Closed
Not that bad really, it's more answer quality I'm concerned with

@BenBrocka 's not terrible, and I know a lot of the closes were dups

Not counting deleted ones, I can't count those

some of the answers have been a little spotty but a lot of the questions are hard to give a solid answer to.

I only recall a couple dupes

8:51 PM
@BenBrocka I think around 4-5, which is a pretty large % of the closes

I'm just cautiously optimistic because it's fairly easy to ask bad-subjective questions in the context of this site

Q: How can I ask my interviewers for feedback following an interview?

BraveyardRecently, I had an interview with Amazon. At first, things went smoothly and well. After two interviews, they decided not to move forward with the process. I'm the type of person who wants to consistently improve, so I wanted to get some feedback regarding why they decided not to continue the pro...

Our first migration... Guess where it came from ;)

@YannisRizos hey, and it doesn't suck

9:33 PM
It's a bit blue in here

It is a lovely color

We should be very careful with migrations from Programmers. Only brand new questions that don't suck.

Well tell your programmers that! All we can do on this end is close/flag crap

@ChrisF da ba dee da ba da?

@BenBrocka True, but there are a lot of Programmers users here :)

9:38 PM
@ChrisF we should be careful with migrations from everywhere, applying the same standard.

@voretaq7 True - but there's been a lot of questions closed on Programmers that would have been OK for here and I don't want them all flagging for reopening/migration.

(I can do this all day :)

@YannisRizos Whatever makes you happy

@YannisRizos we did that in TL and found it eventually borks the whole div

9:51 PM
The amount of crap migrated should be zero given that it requires a moderator to do it.
Right that's me in and out for the night.

10:10 PM
@YannisRizos no you cant, eventually the CSS starts screwing up :)
@BenBrocka we raised a bug about that in SF and got yelled at not to abuse the chat system :)

@voretaq7 That's another reason to do it ;)

@YannisRizos fine but you're opening the meta post to report the bug :P

@voretaq7 lol. It's pretty edge case at best, just amusing
Geez, it IS blue in here
