It is still not a good question for SE. We just removed the parts that did not belong here at all. That improved the question but did not fix it completely. — Chad 7 hours ago
^^^ I agree with @Chad. I think that the question quality has fallen through the floor.

@HugoRocha, My question is simple. How can I trust my management and How much I can trust?
There is no personal in that trust, everything professional.

Good morning gentleman

CMW
which one of us do you mean?

I mean all of you.. Good morning to everyone! **
would that be then gentlemen?

CMW
yes. yes it would :)

@BVR That question would not be fitting. You're asking something that is too broad - it depends on a big number of variables. Most of them are not even static! You would need a big function to solve this kinda of question. And it needs to be async, because the workplace is in constant changes... At least that's my point of view.
@CMW I see, sorry about that. Thanks for correcting me. :)

CMW
@HugoRocha :) Didn't mean it like that at all. I thought it was a typo

12:27 PM
Oh, no, but i really mean to thank you. I am learning a lot here, at the workplace. Not just english, but how to make good question, better writing... all sort of things! So, I really like when i make a typo and people correct me on the spot. It's cool.

@HugoRocha stack exchange will profoundly affect how you ask questions and have interest in helping others with them for the rest of your life

@enderland Wait, I thought we were here because we had interest in helping beforehand

@jmac nah I mean helping others ask good questions, too

That is good too

Q: How do I ask what "bonus incentives" mean?

CoomieI've just been offered a new job. The salary is slightly less than I'm getting now but it includes "annual incentives for performance". This bonus could make it worthwhile changing jobs. Or it could be small or unattainable and make my current role more lucrative. Is there a polite way to enqui...

Q: How could I explain a 2 year gap in obtaining a degree due to dropping out and then returning?

JonnyI began college in 2007 and then dropped out in 2009. I returned late 2011 to finish my final year and have completed it just last week. So basically it took me 5 years to do a 3 year degree. It was a degree in software development. I have just begun looking for a job (entry level) and I am wond...

I think these are duplicates

3:20 PM
@enderland yes, duplicates. my.. GUESS is that the first question has two close votes because the title is misleading. See the final: "Is there a polite way to enquire what I could expect as a bonus without saying "That's not enough - give me more"?" And the title... "How do i ask what "bonus incentives" mean?". Two different questions... too broad!

man i dont know how people get work done in an office environment with a zillion distractions

They don't. They get work half done.
or almost done
or close to done
or will be done tomorrow

CMW
90% done

that's one of the things I dislike the most about my current job
I have to go through great lengths to get a "quiet" setup

I'm in suffering. My phone is working only on one side.

@enderland Headphones with active noise cancellation are awesome, I heard
@HugoRocha Phone is the annoying ringing thing. Phones are those where one side always isn't working :D
Basically, a phone will always take away all of your concentration ^^

@CMW oh ...yes... always one side... it's made to be that way, it seems. It's the phones destiny to work on one side. One shall fall, one shall rise

And, if you ever need a knot that can never be untied again, take your headphones (in-ear ones) and put them into your pocket, with cable and plug. Wait 5 minutes.

That's why i never put them in my pockets! ;)

Oh, this is funny
I just clicked an article about how the NSA supposedly put radio antennas into USB ports
result: can't load nytimes.com
little research: I can't even resolve the domain name nytimes.com. No record.
NSA is onto me

@CMW I wear earplugs under them actually

CMW
@enderland Ok, now that's some really extreme measure you have to take.

@CMW sad :|

CMW
okay, out of sheer curiosity. can someone ping nytimes.com and tell me the IP?
and by curiosity I do mean paranoia

yep, my provider won't even route that IP out of germany...

ummmmmmmm interesting. =)

Q: What would be the most time efficient way for a Jr. rails dev to get a remote job?

Q: Beta sites should be in the Data Explorer

Mad ScientistThe Stack Exchange Data Explorer is a very nice and useful tool, but it has one very large drawback: Beta sites are not included at all. Excluding beta sites probably made a lot of sense when the beta phase was supposed to last only 90 days and when updates to the Data Explorer were performed ma...
