@J.Doe it's not a "standard" per se but it's not uncommon - while he's not wrong in that deadlines on offers make coordinating multiple hiring processes difficult sometimes I don't think I'd be holding that against a company, more a case of "s##t happens" then anything else. It only really crosses in to being a dick move when they pressure a candidate for an immediate answer
