Is anyone here?
@Lilienthal Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
How are you?
@Old_Lamplighter Helllooo
How's everything going?

7:48 AM
I am here. Occasionally.

11:21 AM
@Snow I'm pretty much always here.. lurking, like the smell of that fish that no-one will admit to having cooked in the office microwave and becomes an ever present reminder of their silent shame

I'm often here :D Ping me and I'll see it

11:32 AM
@motosubatsu You are the boiled prawns that someone has hidden under the sofa.

11:48 AM
@Snow you flatterer, you
:P

11:59 AM
After three and a half years, I've handed back my Porsche. I've given into my advancing years and moved to a Volvo.

12:21 PM
@Snow did you spec it with the flat cap and tartan blanket or are you going aftermarket for those?

12:33 PM
It came with corduroy trousers and a flask.

@Snow bet they didn't give you a full flask and just handed it over with some dregs in it

Also included was 407bhp.

1 hour later…
1:49 PM
@Snow i believe the technical term for that is "noice!"

2 hours later…
3:47 PM
@Snow definitely noice! That is up into the happy range for car bhp

4:25 PM
@RoryAlsop Yeah, it's the T8 hybrid. Rather potent for a four-pot.

4:36 PM
@Snow they're good fun. I remember having a "spirited drive" against a police T5 back when I had my 400+ bhp Subaru Forester. The T5 kept up far closer than I expected

Neo
@Snow Is that fast?

@Neo 0-60 in about 5.1 secs.

@Old_Lamplighter Hi ... I was wondering if you or Lilienthal would be willing to take a look at my cover letter ... Need some help with it ... Lilienthal helped me with my resume ... there was is a private room where they gave me feedback. I think it's frozen now. But we could do it there if you have some time ...

I went to a career fair today ... so in this session with a representative of ABCD bank, I was told to go to my nearest branch and talk with the Banking Centre Leader ... So the HR person I spoke with pointed out how I don't have
certain retail banking experiences/skills (e.g., customer service experience) ... My background is in Economics and policy research and I am looking for work related to those areas. Banks do hire economists and research analysts ... but it very rarely ... So a good way to get there is to start at the very bottom , I guess.
So the HR person told me I should go talk to the Branch Leader and tell them that he advised me to. I am supposed to ask them what courses/certifications I should get to be able to land an entry level job there ...
And ask the Leader what else I need to do to work there. I said I was thinking about this and wanted to ask him before the session whether cold walkins are a good idea. He said I am already behind 200 people who have already done that - meaning that people do this all the time . He said I need to be competitive... Then I searched the internet and it says cold walkins are a bad idea ...
Can any of you who are or have been in a manager or leadership role tell me what I should do? And it was a 15 min session so he didn't really point out anything specific to ask other than the course/certification thing ... Do any of you have any ideas about what some good questions would be? I haven't actually thought about this , after I spend some time I am sure I will have a better idea , but any suggestion you guys have will be great ...
