@Lilienthal Thanks. It went well, I think.
@Lilienthal I do actually, in the follow up interview I expect questions like "If there was a bug what steps would you take (to fix it)?". I just dive into the debugger, and use print statements if necessary. Is there a more structured way to answer this question in the way that the interviewer would like?
@Lilienthal I'll keep that in mind, thanks :)

@Old_Lamplighter Does that mean I wont be eligible for any jobs at all?

@user586228 not at all - if your sight (with corrective lenses) is sufficient to do the job then it's only going to be a (potential) issue for those who judge on appearance, they exist certainly but it's not all.

Bit of a sad day for me today. My company is decommissioning the CRM system that I've been developing for and supporting for the past 20 years or so in favour of something more "modern and scalable". I get to be the one who turns out most of the lights on that system early tomorrow morning.
The annoying part is that we (as a team that supported this beast) can't give the old girl a good send-off in the form of a team piss-up.

@Snow print some of the code out and give it a viking funeral in the bathtub

Sounds like a plan!
Somewhere in one of the workflows, I inserted a Harry Potter Sorting Hat algorithm.

10:16 AM
@Snow lol.. I nearly spat my Red Bull out at that!

I think it only worked if the logged-in user was myself, but it's in there somewhere.

@user586228 It just means that there are some who will judge you and that you wouldn't want to work for those people anyway. There are plenty who won't, and with whom you can be very happy working.

@user586228 There have been people who haven't wanted me for my hearing or my autism. IT happens, don't worry about it, just be better than most people out there and people will tend to look past their own prejudices.

@Old_Lamplighter I am speaking about the PhD profile jobs particulalrly in RnD sector
Eveything is US centric particulalry in Material Science and Engineering field?

@user586228 I'm sorry, I don't see how that field is any different. PhD's are allowed to wear glasses, last time I heard

I have -8 eye power that is what I am afraid of
:)
@Old_Lamplighter

1:59 PM
Does your eyesight negatively impact your ability to work?

No not at all
Except that I cannot get into a swimming pool with the glasses

Is a swimming pool necessary for your work? Are you a lifeguard?

No..But Management trainee profiles for steel plants require
I do not understand why that is necessary also?
@Old_Lamplighter In case it is not too personal what do you do as a profession
?

I don't understand why you brought up the idea of a swimming pool. If you can do your job and you can communicate effectively, then glasses don't matter, it's irrelevant.

@user586228 Well, I've done everything from construction to sign-making to retail, and right now I am a programmer

2:05 PM
That is great...

@user586228 I know that they can make goggles with your prescripotions
so if any underwater work is required, that should not be an issue

Could not get you..

@user586228 the greater point being is that if you are determined and resourceful you can overcome any obstacle in your path.

ok:)
