8:15 AM
Anyone using Firefox and wants a "Dark mode" for chat, might want to look at this new extension. Seems to work great for me.

1 hour later…
9:35 AM
Morning all

Top of the morning to you!

^hadn't realised I'd gotten this close

Oooh. not far to go then.

you all set for Sunday?

Sort of. I'll probably record C4 and watch it later as I'm out helping out with charity things on Sunday. It'll be interesting to see how C4 SD looks and whether I'm outraged by it not being in 4K.

9:43 AM
@Snow I'll be watching it live (in SD) - my mother "booked" me to come over and watch the race months ago :D

Why do you need to go to your mother's to watch it?

@Snow I don't.. she just wants me to, since I'll be getting a Sunday Roast in the bargain I'm not complaining :D

Ahhh.. Superb. That's a deal worth doing then.

10:01 AM
I just hope it's a decent race and not another tedious procession.

@Snow amen to that.. Austria was a damn fine show so I'm hoping for more of the same. Silverstone doesn't usually disappoint

The good thing with Austria was the heat. Now that the temperature is back to being "normal", I expect Mercedes to be out in front again.

@motosubatsu legen... wait for it...

@Kepotx hehe.. I was going to make that gag!

I will let you say the "dary" when you will get it

10:09 AM
@Snow Yeah I expect Merc out front - although Bahrain would suggest that Ferrari may well be competitive here. TBH as a Hamilton fan I'm not going to complain if he wins but just hoping for some quality cut-and-thrust in the main body of the pack
@Kepotx count on it!

10:23 AM
I find myself ignoring the front runners these days and looking at the middle and back of the pack for action.

@Snow F1.5

1 hour later…
11:36 AM
Oh, this doesn't look good. Our tape drive failed, and our sysadmin just left on vacation for 3 weeks
And I don't feel comfortable navigating Dell Support with no experience

@Nzall Had that in january, good luck :p

@Nzall ouch.. feel your pain

This is an interesting conundrum: workplace.stackexchange.com/questions/140206/…

if it makes you feel any better Dell support are generally not too painful to deal with

OP is between a rock and a hard place
@motosubatsu more or less painful then symantec support?

11:40 AM
@Magisch less IME

@motosubatsu I'm autistic and I don't have access to any of the requisite documents because they're on a sysadmin-only drive like receipts, contact details, order numbers,... For now, our backups will have to be disk only

@Nzall the good thing about Dell is that you generally don't need much documentation - they can look everything up off the service tag for the asset (which will be on a label on the hardware)

Be it as it may, I have poor social skills. The most I regularly do over the phone is book a hairdresser. I really don't think I'm capable of diagnosing and fixing a broken tape driver as my first real sysadmin task

@Nzall <shrug /> your decision I guess. As long as your boss is okay with it

11:56 AM
@Snow La-a
My sister, who works in healthcare, came across the same thing
You're not my brother-in-law are you?

@Nzall might be worth checking out the Dell support site for the drive though - just pop the Service Tag in and you'll get some handy troubleshooting things to try

@motosubatsu I've discussed this with my boss. We plan on calling in help from a former employee who was the previous sysadmin. She left on good terms and my boss said she probably will be willing to help

@Nzall cool.. that way no-one is left high-and-dry :)

@GregoryCurrie No, I don't think so. And thanks for helping out with that Basil guy. I don't think he really got the point we were trying to make there.

12:12 PM
No doubt a smart character, but... I don't know... just a bit weird

12:24 PM
I'm really really blown away atm
My neighbour from like 2 streets down just messaged me on instagram asking to get started with trading, we got into a conversation then bam he lives right there...
Then 5 minutes after that I see an ad... It's my old geography teacher from secondary school talking to the camera about real estate and how to get involved o.o

@Twyxz was he saying how he became a millionaire with this one neat trick that the banks don't want you to know about?

Not really, it was kinda like he was still in school teaching. But talking about real estate instead @motosubatsu
Was really strange.
