Q: How can I improve this on hold question?

Pop I have a question about my The Workplace Stack Exchange post: How to tell someone politely that they are barking up the wrong tree? The question is put on hold, how can I improve it?

7 hours later…
8:16 AM
@RichardU I understood the reference, I thought it was only me hahah an annoying little biting insect

8:47 AM
@motosubatsu You don't happen to know why my tyre valves aren't letting me take a reading do you?
I'm trying to do it and it just keeps releasing air rather than catching in the guage

9:26 AM
@Twyxz sounds like it's not sealing on.. have you used this gauge before?

9:50 AM
@motosubatsu Yes, might be ice on my valves
the entire car was frozen so i'll try it again above freezing temp

the cold would be my guess
it was seriously icy this morning my way as well
couldn't open the boot, couldn't even shut the driver's door! (the car has frameless windows so normally the window drops a mm or two to allow for opening and goes back up when the door is closed - window was frozen in place so although I got it open I couldn't get it shut again!)

Morning everypme

10:14 AM
Every time I see a question about leave or vacation I just hope that one day, one come with the Linus story. Asking about how to handle the issue when you are the chief but every time you try to go in vacation the whole team follow you.

10:25 AM
@xdtTransform ahh the whole Edinburgh debacle
that was insane
although on a related note has someone replaced Linus with an LMD? he's actually been apologizing of late

10:42 AM
He want to go to europe. The team go to europe near his hotel. He insult them publicly, they offer forgiveness before he had finish. He claim mental issue go to cure. They moved an office near cure so he can have a stress less work.

11:09 AM
@motosubatsu Shouldn't buy terrible cars
Maybe the TPMS was just bugging out because it was cold

@Twyxz possibly.. it could have been a genuine reading though - when the ambient temperature drops so does the pressure in the tires. If the pressure was sitting not far above the trigger level for the TPMS a significant drop in temperature could be enough to send it below that level.

Morning guys and gals

Morning @rath

11:42 AM
@motosubatsu Possibly, Hopefully not a puncture and just a weather drop

@Twyxz fingers crossed!
you tend to get more "leakage" during winter months as well - as it's colder the sidewalls get stiffer, the alloy contracts ever so slightly and the whole assembly doesn't seal quite as well so you get tiny losses as you hit bumps etc. Something exacerbated by the pressure drop from lower temps. Check/top up the pressures at a decent garage today and then just keep an eye on it over the next few days.

12:08 PM
@Twyxz I get a certain perverse joy in reopening any post he's closed. BTW, there is a product called "Fix a flat" that would work on your tire if it's just a small leak, or you can go to a tire shop, and they can find and fix the leak for you if it isn't just due to the weather.

@RichardU We have a company called Kwik-Fit they basically do iot

@Twyxz Good. :D

@Twyxz ahh Kwik Fit, the company that's in the business of trying to hose you for as much unnecessary work as possible whatever you've gone in for
I'd avoid unless you're desparate

12:27 PM
@motosubatsu My brother always helped me steer clear of scammers

@RichardU Kwik Fit have a nasty (and honestly not undeserved) reputation for scaring people into thinking they need new brakes, exhaust etc
they offer "free" checks that seem to find problems an inordinate amount of the time

@motosubatsu Yes, over here, we had SEARS automotive doing the same damn thing, AND not even doing the repairs!

@RichardU tbf Kwik Fit generally at least do the work, just not always to a particularly high standard or with particularly good quality parts

@motosubatsu In the USA, you have to watch the car dealerships as well. Because warrantee work is paid at a flat rate from the manufacturer, the shops don't make any money, and it[s often shoddy work, or they find a ton of warrantee work to do at the same time.\

12:43 PM
@motosubatsu Where do you get yours done then

@Twyxz National are solid, if not the cheapest. Personally I tend to get my usual garage to do all my tyre work - they don't take the piss with prices (usually pretty close to online prices) and have proven to be trustworthy in general time and again

Yeah I can take them to the dealer/garage I got them from
but it's far away and not necessarily necessary
I've never been told I need any other repairs through my local Kwik-Fit however sometimes the job they do can be a bit iffy

1:10 PM
@RichardU YHM btw

There's a new Snow on the block
I prefer this one
I think I broke into the top 100 all time

Q: Community Promotion Ads — 2019

JNat2019 is here! And with the new year, as usual, comes a new iteration of Community Promotion Ads! Let’s refresh these for the coming year :) What are Community Promotion Ads? Community Promotion Ads are community-vetted advertisements that will show up on the main site, in the right sidebar. The...

Ugh, I feel less badly about the ambush code test for that person when I read the previous question.

He triggered a 10 week HR proctology exam of his boss, and now is getting a reprisal. once again, **HR IS NOT YOUR FRIEND**
And today's random thought.... A quote from Beethovan

"Prince, what you are, you are through chance and birth; what I am, I am through my own labor. There are many princes and there will continue to be thousands more, but there is only one Beethoven."

Tbh I just answered what everyone was thinking but realistically there has to be something wrong with OP
YOu don't just get these things
If everybody lied for the manager, does nobody like the OP? or is the OP delusional
Nobody else got the test? So he's falling behind or?

hey @RichardU how r u doing

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO top of the week so far, in your face Joe hahahha

@Twyxz which one? The ambush coding test?
@Twyxz quit gloating, whelp.
LOL
@Nofel can't complain, but struggling with getting those last 15 pounds off of my fat gut.

2:02 PM
@RichardU Join the party. I tried everything but gym bt I cannot get rid of my tummy fat
just hate it
wish i could be a doctor to study anatomy

It's really not hard, just eat clean, often and consistently
Cut out things like sauces (in large amounts), the usual sweets, chocolate. Eat in moderation. Once full stop. When hungry make sure you eat straight away

eat sugar? when hungry/
?
arent those false calories
empty

No
well yes fake calories
but when you're hungry eat proper food straight away
carry around snacks like breakfast bars, fruit, hell even carry around oats or something if you have to

@Twyxz I'm down over 70 lbs from my heaviest, I'm doing all that, it's just getting rid of those last 15

I have oats and blueberry breakfast
make my mood good
One thing that is lacking is cooking
how to cook
My worse habit is not able to wake up when alarm goes off
if i do that I can squeeze gym.
Once I was being contacted to be a face of a protein powder

Hey, people, can we focus on NOT chasing new users off?

Q: How can I improve this on hold question?

Pop I have a question about my The Workplace Stack Exchange post: How to tell someone politely that they are barking up the wrong tree? The question is put on hold, how can I improve it?

3:47 PM
@RichardU don't be silly.. we can't go round being welcoming or anything so patently ridiculous :/

@motosubatsu Perish the thought! {eyeroll}

@RichardU I've posted a comment on their meta question to try and re-enforce that we aren't all d##kheads

@motosubatsu Yes, I find it extremely irritating that the usual "close everything" crowd doesn't ever edit, doesn't ever comment, and is of no help at all.

@RichardU yeah.. if "on hold" is supposed to be about allowing the question to be improved why the silent down vote bonanza on a meta post asking for help on doing just that

@motosubatsu get your beekeeper outfit ready, I'm going to kick over the hive, again.

4:00 PM
@RichardU whats ur input on this

@Nofel "Hi boss! I know I've got a review coming up, is there anything I should have prepared for it?"
That's a gentle reminder disguised as asking for advice.

I was thinking to say it on start of next week

@Nofel Just don't overthink it, and don't be afraid. That is literally a five second conversation.
Say it today, in case he's forgotten.

@RichardU i m coz it shld sound like i am annoying and impatient

@Nofel not the way I phrased it. It's not saying "When is my review", it's saying "what should I prepare for my review".
If you're going to be a bear, be a GRIZZLY

4:12 PM
Sainsbury contacted me on SO jobs
woah
@RichardU will do, just being considerate. I have a a lot of self confusion that i will annoy other person

@Nofel the best way to combat that is to be brief. Don't apologize, don't over explain, just go right up and say it. Chances are he'll be like "Oh, that's right, I need to set one up with you, Sorry!" By reminding him NOW, he doesn't have to rush to set something up at the last minute

good point
@RichardU I am reading this book and i am on same chapter which says "ur bad habit make heart in u so strong that when u want to do right thing, it make u feel bad"
I have to remove my goblins and replace it with good auto-pilot.

4:27 PM
@Nofel yep, you've got to hack your own brain. BTW, if you think it can't be done, people used to berate me for my negative, defeatist attitude.

@RichardU that is hard one "hacking brain"

@Nofel what it is, is forming new habits to replace old ones. One thing I started doing each day was to stop, and think about one thing I was grateful for, one thing I would deliberately enjoy, and a goal to make five people smile.
That's how I rebuilt myself from being homeless.
You keep yourself too busy with positive things to dwell on the negative.

Before I can say, he is done for the day so it is gone for the day
so tomorrow will be the day i say
@RichardU my goal for 2019 is to learn to read arabic and start/finish Quran
i am following warren buffet 25/5 rule
it works good

Q: Be more inviting to new users

Richard UThis latest turn has irritated me a bit, so forgive my tone. A user comes in, writes a question, which is down-voted and closed. None of the people who voted to closed left a comment, edited the question, or did anything beyond vote. Then, when the user posted here in Meta, again, no responses...

@Nofel mine is to get the last of the damn weight off, not working so far.... grrrrrrr.
Rep capped again... LOL

@RichardU that too
start early. finish on time

5:40 PM
@RichardU I upvoted ur meta and it was 2, but someone did 1 downvote and it kills the post of leaving the comment

6:27 PM
@Nofel Ah, no worries, I have a very persistent downvote stalker

3 hours later…
9:04 PM
@DarkCygnus I have updated the Meta question

9:37 PM
@RichardU thanks :)
How's your day so far?

@DarkCygnus almost over, then I need to find my car's title so I can get paid by insurance company

10:06 PM
@RichardU Did the repairs went well?
Highlight of today is that I got a haircut
