@Kilisi currently 4C - will peak about 12C later today. Beautiful clear blue skies.
we have bits that are entirely mountainous, the lowlands and the highlands are very different. But our biggest mountains aren't big compared to proper mountains. Our rocks are so old that they have been worn down
I notice questions getting delete votes that IMO should not be deleted. Current examples:
Should I ask for my job back after being terminated? (1 vote)
Should I recommend a fired colleague? (1 vote)
Both questions, though closed as off-topic, certainly do not meet the requirements for deletion:...
I am a fresh out of college student and a huge gamer. I recently got a job towards the end of this summer and met my team, which consists of a number of people who are in their late 50s. As I am a huge gamer, I just go home after work and play online games or watch people play. I decided to play ...
@Snow yep.. no excusing the content of the co-worker's response. But I don't have any sympathy for pathetic bullies who whine when their target does something they don't like.
tbh though all jokes aside as HR I would take a very dim view on a new coworker admitting to cyberstalking and targeted harassment of a senior colleague
I wonder what kind of response this guy expected when he asked this question. Obviously, it's going to hit HNQ and get lots of views. But realistically speaking, he can't really expect much in the way of confirmation in attempting to throw someone under a bus like this (even if he did get trolled into throwing abuse).
Dunno what others experiences are like, but I work in the UK. As an employee I get 1 day of holiday for every 11 days I work, since my contracting rate is almost double my perm rate, contracting means much better holidays for me.
I am happy, pays my bills, we dont have anything but I think i am to blame, I cannot focus on myself to be better. but I talked to recruiter who is on same floor and told him what I am doing n in 6-12 yrs I will worth 300-400 PD if i focus on myself.
@TolMera in order for me to save money for hols I need to pay off my debts or have a good pay but I m happy given 3 months on unemployment and I know i am not good, i was in company which was behind and pulled me behind as well. so now I am place where I can do what I want to and use new tech while i also study them and it is growing company and I see myself forming a team as well in there
@Magisch depends what I'm doing, I used to enjoy working every winter in NZ forests in any weather because I'm active all the time and warm. But over here my server room is too cold for long periods because of the aircon.... on holiday I don't tend to be particularly active most of the time, and thats when the cold gets me most.
t-shirt, jeans & trainers (sneakers in yank-speak) in my current client's office - except when I'm visiting the manufacturing site when I need to wear PPE so have to add a super-stylish hi-vis jacket, hard hat and steel-toecap boots.
@Twyxz it gets worse - if you don't have steel-capped boots of your own the loaners are steel capped wellies :D Everyone only wears those once before they go out and buy their own boots
@Twyxz indeed.. although that said I used my boots at home over the weekend and managed to leave them there - I'm hoping there's no cause for me to go to the other site today!
oh and I'm somewhat surprised that Q was closed as "unclear", I'm not saying it was the best worded question ever or one that's going to go down as a classic but it's certainly clear enough
I got an odd spam email this morning. It just said "URGENT: Kindly respond to my email of Friday". No embedded links, no nothing. I guess it's just wanting me to respond with "What email?" and sting me from there.
If I say I need to work from home, and also leave early, does that sound suspicious? Neither is frowned upon, by itself in our workplace, but I'm just wondering about the combination.
It's "early" in the sense that it's an hour before the end of the official office hours, but I plan on making up for that by starting earlier and taking a shorter lunch.
I mean work from home the whole day, and then leave early (we have a meeting which I can attend remotely, so working from home is not an excuse to miss that). Ok, "leave" might not have been the best choice of words - I just mean stop working.
@DarkCygnus Because I have a meeting around the end of the day, which I'll miss (not because I'm working from home, but because I'll stop working early).
It's hard to find motivation to work sometimes. There are just boring tasks to do...
... and I'm sort of uncertain about what I'm supposed to do ... and the best person to ask is on leave ... and the temperature control in the office sucks ... and I'm lazy ... and I'm probably also distracted by the beautiful girl sitting nearby
hi all! we have a question on IPS that the user wanted to migrate over: interpersonal.stackexchange.com/questions/18768/… - wanted to get some local opinions on whether that looks ok for your site before I do anything?
@EmC seems fit for TWP... I would suggest perhaps cutting down the details a bit, as it is more story than actual question. Also, the "is this wrong" I fear is off topic everywhere on SE... however, there is a valid question down there. I also suggest rephrasing the core question so it sounds less opinion-based
Not that it's not answerable, as it is highly answerable, but people here are a bit trigger happy when casting VTCs
Also, answering if it is reasonable or not, IMHO, lacks a bit of a goal... a more productive question would be "How can we politely and professionally turn down her request to do groceries/eat with them every time"
sometimes it seems the context of being in the workplace seems to make a question answerable here vs. there but, that's why I asked before migrating, since I've never been super active here
The question How to handle a group activity during an interview when the participants are applying for the same job as you? was recently closed for being too broad. Honestly, I have absolutely no idea why. The question is perfectly clear and answerable as is.
I'd like to request that this questi...
