This new user did a great edit to chop off about 3/4th of his post (as against picking up fights with people who voted to close his question - which seems to be the norm here). It still reads to be a "what should I do?" question. I really wish we can salvage the question, though it would probably be a duplicate. Thoughts?

Q: Joining a new team vs external job offer

nnjaI am looking to change my career path from a software tester to a software engineer. I have two offers at the moment: one from my current company, Company X to transition into a new team. Another is to Company Y (external offer). I am not sure about the pay at Company Y but they have given me a (...

I have a funny situation. My boss have asked me not to quit for another company twice already since I joined 5 months ago. Is it considered professional?

@VarunAgrawal Why did they ask that? Have you told them you plan on quitting for another company?

Nope. Maybe he is just paranoid
But it's true though. I am leaving soon.

Asking someone not to quit is kind of a weird and uncomfortable thing to do.

Ok. I would have preferred if he works on improving working conditions rather than asking people to not leave

He may not be able to do anything about it

He is one of the founder of the company (it is quite small one)

Has anyone told him about the problems with the working conditions?

I don't know. But I don't care. Their problem

@VarunAgrawal He must have found out from other sources. It would be weird for anyone to just tell any random employee not to quit, unless they have reason to suspect that is about to happen.

ok maybe I guess.

You could possibly leave a good lasting impression by bringing these issues up, although only do that if you have a good relationship with him.

I tried in the beginning but they were not very welcoming.

If I have to send an email through a recruitment solutions site (like greenhouse.io) to a company I've had a bit of a back and forth with already, do you think they might block attachments?

> do you think they might block attachments
Who?
I never have problems with attachments so far

The recruitment solutions site. The company is sending mails through an address like company@recruitmentsite.com. I don't have the direct email address of the person I'm speaking to, so I don't really know what will happen with the email (whether it will just be forwarded, whether there's some filtering or whether it needs to be accessed via their site).

I think it probably depend upon the software. I assume most software allow it. After attaching, you can also ask them if it went through and they receiving it as part of your email.

@VarunAgrawal Be careful about who you disclose your leaving plans to. The next time you might get fired before you get the opportunity to leave on your own terms, if your boss finds out that you are planning to leave.

I have not told anyone yet

Ok, then it is possible that he extrapolated your "bringing up issues" to "he is leaving". I know a lot of insecure people have a tendency to assume the worst.
There's a saying in one of my languages that goes roughly as, "if you see a mouse in your house today, you will see a tiger by the end of the week."
