That's really confused me
Not hard but, it's only right? That she gets one, but at the same time why complain hahaha it's one day. It's not as if you can have a day off to celebrate your birthday because it doesn't exist on most years
The starred messages have not been used recently, people need to start saying interesting things

@Twyxz It's a day off that everyone else gets, plus a gift card, plus acknowledgement as part of the monthly birthday cake.
But so much more than that, its the insult of it all; the lack of consideration and fairness, especially when they didn't immediately correct it when it was pointed out.
I can see someone initially badly interpreting a hastily written policy, but to double down on the "you don't deserve a birthday" when it was pointed out...
Its an officially sanctioned, giant middle finger from management to you personally.

It's pretty dumb. It's pretty much accepted that people who have a birthday on Feb 29 have their off-year birthday on the 28th instead. If a company is enforcing the "29th only" rule, then they're implicitly employing someone who is far too young to be employed.

@Snow Yep, exactly. Clearly that person is legally recognized as a year older when they come into work on March 1st every year. So give them the f'ing day off and gift card if you want to keep them as an employee. Its not even hard

I don't really see this as being a real question. If it is, it's enormously petty on the part of the manager involved.

@Snow Agree. Apparently part of it could be a cultural aspect? Some people in the comments suspected it was in Singapore, where there is a very tight "follow the book" work culture.

But that doesn't hold water - if their birthday is on the weekend, they get the following business day off.

2:45 PM
@Twyxz everything I say is interesting, people must have a hard time deciding which pearl of wisdom to choose.
@BradC Perhaps it's because of my own experiences, but I have yet to see an employer practice that is too bizarre to be real. An episode of Undercover Boss for Hooters showed a manager putting the girls through some amazingly humiliating practices. He was fired after the big boss saw it, but still, it did go on.

Yep. The manager keeps saying "morale is great!" when what he actually means is that employees have gotten the clear message that their concerns will not be taken seriously
And sure, other employees (who do get the day off and the gift card) are happy, although I have to wonder how many of them know the detail of how management is treating this one unlucky worker

@RichardU That must be it then hahahah

@Twyxz I know, it is a terrible burden, but one I have learned to live with. :D
In any event, I am in an extraordinarily good mood, as I am flying out to see my children next week for Christmas. And, Amazon has been amazing in delivering things this year. Everything has arrived early.

@RichardU Lifes hard when you're too good really :/
Amazon prime scam is the way to go, the best scam I ever signed up for

@Twyxz indeed it is. Nobody ever tries to drag down the under-achievers. I have Amazon Fire TV, all of the premium stuff is included with your prime membership, and I order so much I a given year anyway, that I save over 500 in fees each year with the scam.

2:58 PM
I watched a kid almost get knocked clean out by an Amazon locker and admittedly I laughed :P
I'm addicted to the worst mobile game ever...

@Twyxz flappy bird?

Tiny Tower.

@Twyxz I wish we could go back to the days where you just bought a game without micropurcheses, downloadable content, or tons of ads..... /sigh\

Tiny Tower is basically like that, there's micropurchases but honestly don't need them
Lots of ads but optional. When I started I watched loads but now not at all
But then again the game is not to pretty much anyone's liking but mine it seems hahahaha

@Twyxz Yeah, I play the Candy Crush games, but have never done any in-game purchases.

3:11 PM
but if anyone plays add me and I'll help :)

You run out your daily allotment of plays then leave it alone until the next day

Tiny tower is just not time consuming it's not really a game it's just something to pretty much have in the background/passtime because it's an idle game

I still play "angband" on my laptop...

Yes, I'm old
The mobile game I'm addicted to is "Terragenisis". The whole game is about terraforming worlds. I bought the full game, but you have the option of buying individual planets, or unlocking them through achievements.

I've played almost 3 years of Clash Royale too
Idk sometimes I'm too lazy to boot up a PC or Console so I just sit on my phone

@Twyxz well, that's because you're not old and decrepit as I am. Also, the circumstances of my birth gave me poor control over my hands. I don't have the fine motor skill to even write, so most mobile games are beyond my abilities.
Ugh, I'm being nice to people in my answers today. I should apologize. I don't know what has gotten into me.

3:34 PM
Clash Royale is a stupid game. I qualified top 200 in the UK and top 1000 in the world but then since I don't have a pay to win account and I'm just out of the top 500 in the world to be scouted by a team. Everyone can just counter me and I have no other options as it takes like 9 months to max out a deck
so I have one deck fully maxed and I can't change up if I need to
Pay to win in all it's glory
Well pay to compete

Hahahha @RichardU You're gonna get another +100 votes answer coming up

@Twyxz I hope not, those answers tend to attract the attention of people who will post how bad the answer is, without providing one of their own.
@Twyxz it took me to a rep-cap today.
@Twyxz If I was that person's manager, I'd try to get a whole training department built around him.

Woot. #1 on the TWP winterbash leaderboard. Not that I care about that stuff.

@DarkCygnus our prostitutes don't wear panties.... or so I heard.... no personal experience.... ummmm... forget I said anything...

6:21 PM
@Kilisi just plain empiric observation you say? xD
ummm
I see OP deleted this hastilly, but I think it should be reopened despite of such, as it is a valid question

@DarkCygnus The problem is the OP deleted it for some reason. Unless the OP Indicates they are willing to have it reopened I am loath to vote to undelete.

I had already answered
the post had positive score
it was valid
And I also dislike that users poll for help, get comments, get answers and then delete the post. Which is selfish as in only using us for help and then denying the same to future users

I agree it is a valid question. That is not a valid reason to vote to undelete

ok, I respect your opinion
Besides, the user just joined SE
obviously the user is not used to a Q&A site yet
perhaps OP just panicked?
but again, what you propose (reach out to OP to see if they are willing) is quite impossible now

6:41 PM
@DarkCygnus So reask the question yourself. Its a good question and the OP of the original has decided they didnt want to be associated with it.

Maybe I should ask a question for TWP "Is it okay if I show people my scar?"
Then, after a few people respond, assuming it's someplace naughty, comment that it's on my face, covered by my right eyebrow.
I'm in a mischievous mood today. I think when I go home, I'll torment a phoney support tech scammer.

7:00 PM
@RichardU lol

Q: Kind reminder when posting reopen requests

DarkCygnusI want to kindly remind you that we have a reopen-request tag, that is intended to use along meta posts that ask for... well... a reopen request. Please, let's stick to using the tag when it is intended, as omitting it makes it difficult to browse for reopen requests posts to give them the atten...

7:33 PM
Why do i go to a certian site and try to help....
I should know by now they dont really want help they just want to whine and be told they are right.

7:46 PM
@IDrinkandIKnowThings god forbid you ever say that the employer is in the right
