Not hard but, it's only right? That she gets one, but at the same time why complain hahaha it's one day. It's not as if you can have a day off to celebrate your birthday because it doesn't exist on most years
The starred messages have not been used recently, people need to start saying interesting things
@Twyxz It's a day off that everyone else gets, plus a gift card, plus acknowledgement as part of the monthly birthday cake.
But so much more than that, its the insult of it all; the lack of consideration and fairness, especially when they didn't immediately correct it when it was pointed out.
I can see someone initially badly interpreting a hastily written policy, but to double down on the "you don't deserve a birthday" when it was pointed out...
Its an officially sanctioned, giant middle finger from management to you personally.
It's pretty dumb. It's pretty much accepted that people who have a birthday on Feb 29 have their off-year birthday on the 28th instead. If a company is enforcing the "29th only" rule, then they're implicitly employing someone who is far too young to be employed.
@Snow Yep, exactly. Clearly that person is legally recognized as a year older when they come into work on March 1st every year. So give them the f'ing day off and gift card if you want to keep them as an employee. Its not even hard
@Snow Agree. Apparently part of it could be a cultural aspect? Some people in the comments suspected it was in Singapore, where there is a very tight "follow the book" work culture.
@Twyxz everything I say is interesting, people must have a hard time deciding which pearl of wisdom to choose.
@BradC Perhaps it's because of my own experiences, but I have yet to see an employer practice that is too bizarre to be real. An episode of Undercover Boss for Hooters showed a manager putting the girls through some amazingly humiliating practices. He was fired after the big boss saw it, but still, it did go on.
Yep. The manager keeps saying "morale is great!" when what he actually means is that employees have gotten the clear message that their concerns will not be taken seriously
And sure, other employees (who do get the day off and the gift card) are happy, although I have to wonder how many of them know the detail of how management is treating this one unlucky worker
@Twyxz I know, it is a terrible burden, but one I have learned to live with. :D
In any event, I am in an extraordinarily good mood, as I am flying out to see my children next week for Christmas. And, Amazon has been amazing in delivering things this year. Everything has arrived early.
@Twyxz indeed it is. Nobody ever tries to drag down the under-achievers. I have Amazon Fire TV, all of the premium stuff is included with your prime membership, and I order so much I a given year anyway, that I save over 500 in fees each year with the scam.
Tiny tower is just not time consuming it's not really a game it's just something to pretty much have in the background/passtime because it's an idle game
The mobile game I'm addicted to is "Terragenisis". The whole game is about terraforming worlds. I bought the full game, but you have the option of buying individual planets, or unlocking them through achievements.
@Twyxz well, that's because you're not old and decrepit as I am. Also, the circumstances of my birth gave me poor control over my hands. I don't have the fine motor skill to even write, so most mobile games are beyond my abilities.
Ugh, I'm being nice to people in my answers today. I should apologize. I don't know what has gotten into me.
Clash Royale is a stupid game. I qualified top 200 in the UK and top 1000 in the world but then since I don't have a pay to win account and I'm just out of the top 500 in the world to be scouted by a team. Everyone can just counter me and I have no other options as it takes like 9 months to max out a deck
so I have one deck fully maxed and I can't change up if I need to
@DarkCygnus The problem is the OP deleted it for some reason. Unless the OP Indicates they are willing to have it reopened I am loath to vote to undelete.
And I also dislike that users poll for help, get comments, get answers and then delete the post. Which is selfish as in only using us for help and then denying the same to future users
I want to kindly remind you that we have a reopen-request tag, that is intended to use along meta posts that ask for... well... a reopen request.
Please, let's stick to using the tag when it is intended, as omitting it makes it difficult to browse for reopen requests posts to give them the atten...
