12:00 AM
Glad to hear that @JoeStrazzere let's hope for the best :)

10 hours later…
9:32 AM
morning all

morning @motosubatsu

@theonlydanever did you end up leaving early in the end last night?

i left about three minutes early to pick up some flowers and wine on the way home
my line manager was on a call when i left, but i gave him a wave goodbye rather than sneak out

@theonlydanever sounds like a good compromise

he recognised that he was in before me this morning, so at least he knows i'm making an effort and coming in early - it means the three minutes last night didn't bother him
thanks for the advice yesterday
my girlf didn't even ask in the end, or even suggest that i could have left earlier to beat her home

9:55 AM
@theonlydanever nice.. always good to have your efforts recognized during the early days

Good morning. Hope the evening went well last night @theonlydanever

10:22 AM
morning @Snow
yeah, it was a nice evening - presents went down as well as the wine!

Great news. Glad it went well. I spent most of yesterday evening sitting through a 2 1/2 programme on dogs.

10:42 AM
Do you like dags?

11:06 AM
Dogs, not dags. Dags are an entirely different thing, and you need an entirely specific set of kinks to like those.

11:18 AM
haha, that was a quote from the incredible Guy Ritchie film
i really don't want to Google what you're talking about on my work laptop
@Snow - you deleted your answer on the Project Manager question?

11:36 AM
Yes. Other answers were a better fit for the methodology involved. I sometimes delete my answer if they lack relevancy.
I've self deleted over 100 answers so far, which probably says something about my lack of quality.

12:04 PM
@Snow Not lack of quality, I find your answers are always well written and gets your points across. I think the issue is not everyone always agrees with those well written points

12:14 PM
@Draken congrats on your recent high scoring answer. I really did not think it would beat mine...

@Draken Many thanks. In this case, there's far better answers than mine, I'm happy enough to step back and allow those higher class answers get the attention they deserve.

@Snow How noble of you ;-}

The people asking the questions here are important after all.

@Snow One of the reasons most of us are here....

12:51 PM
Afternoon all

Hey

1:24 PM
Good afternoon. Sorry, I forgot to press the Enter key.

@IamSoNotListening Neither did I, I thought I was in the minority and instead people wanted to burn someone at the stake. I would rather provide the tinder and matches and see if they light their own fire, much less work

@IamSoNotListening My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw IDrinkandIKnowThings pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

Ah, the room has life again :D

1:40 PM
People are typing stuff - it's amazing!

@IDrinkandIKnowThings Welcome back sir.
Dilly Dilly!
Haven't had any luck finding that Tequila yet. ;-)

I have a new PITA to deal with.
This is a weirdly submissive answer. I would have compromised and said something like, okay, then give me the bonus for however many months I will be there. i.e. a bonus of $500 yearly turns into about $250 after 6 months. I don't agree that taking a job based on bonuses is worth it. — insidesin 7 hours ago
He had two comments deleted as rude yesterday ^^^^^^
just doesn't learn
Wow, the board is filled with some doozeys today
@IamSoNotListening I see you are well above me in the rankings. I must fix that.
;)

@Draken Our people are fickle. You got a gold out of it.
@TheSnarkKnight LOL
Very temporary
I assure you
some lucky questions that happen to be open when I was able to answer
typically @Snow steals all those.

I'm finding it increasingly difficult to steal stuff that isn't there.

@Snow Slim pickins for sure

1:52 PM
Damn, I'm out of food. All there is to eat is fruit.

@Snow Fruit is not food.

Exactly. I have no idea why it's in my lunch box. Maybe it's there to prevent damage to my sandwiches.
At least I had a meaty stick of salty meat to chew upon.

@Snow its the monthly "free fruit wednesday" here today.. I confess I have partaken

Bananas are acceptable. Peaches are not.

@Snow only if you peel them

2:03 PM
@Snow I had an apple

I'm not peeling anything of yours. You peel your own fruit!

The questions are a bit strange today

It's Wednesday. People are on a low ebb on Wednesdays.

@Snow yep..last weekend is a distant memory and next weekend is still days away

@Snow That's what she said?

2:08 PM
Insomnia again last night, running on two hours of sleep.

@TheSnarkKnight noooooooo

Oh great, now I'm yawning in the office.

Yep, my last good night's sleep was some time in 1987

Come to my place. People always sleep well in our back room.
And no, that's not a euphemism.

ice here. remote day

2:12 PM
@TheSnarkKnight 1987 was a great year. more specifically, October 1987.
11th October 1987
at 1:57pm

@theonlydanever not for me, Three of my grandparents and one of my cousins died
all in the same year
haven't had a good night's sleep since

@theonlydanever ???

@IamSoNotListening I'm guessing his birth
or that of a child

it's my birthday, but now i feel bad for @TheSnarkKnight

@theonlydanever I've had worse years.
At least something good came from that year though, we got you! :D

2:15 PM
Man it's depressing when so many people are younger than me.

@Snow You know you're getting too old when you look at the girls and the thought of dating one is eliminated from your brain as they are "too young"

thanks @TheSnarkKnight - it's a pleasure to be here

This year, I will be 50.

Wow, I'm over 20 years older than you.
@Snow ah, yer my age!
I just sound older because I've gone through so many lives.
I'm part cat you know, so I have five lives

older = wiser

2:23 PM
You're only part cat because they've left so many claws in you, and you've swallowed much of their fur in your sleep.

@theonlydanever a wise man learns from the mistakes of others, a fool from his own. Wisdom was forced upon me while I fought against it, kicking and screaming the whole way.
@Snow the five lives have come in handy though. The only problem is I've used about thirty so far.

How to I tell my manager I overcommitted with a ticket that isn’t as I thought? I m new at work

@nofel You over-estimated, or have you gone over the estimate?
or have you taken a ticket on that you don't know how to resolve yet?

@Nofel Opps, made a mistake. I'll learn from it and not do it again in the future. Treat everything as a position to learn from

@Nofel Let them know asap, do not wait until the last minute...

2:35 PM
I thought it was easy but I have spend 2 days and slow progress
I told the manager “optimistically today” in scrum
@Snow all of it

If you can explain what your difficulties are, then you should be fine.

On skype or email?

2:52 PM
This answer on code golf made me laugh
https://codegolf.stackexchange.com/a/152908/55402

I wish I could understand it.

morning from the north pole, I mean Atlanta

@ChrisE Good afternoon sir!

@ChrisE we of the northeast decided to share our good fortune.
I just wish that Algore would shut up about global warming, every time he opens his mouth, the temperature drops 5 degrees
ah, my phantom down-voters are active today. :D

3:11 PM
I am plagued with phantom non-voters.

I know I could ask this on the main site, but I don't feel like it's a question others would get much use out of and I need a quicker answer. My department head left at the end of this year before I was able to come in for my performance eval, so we agreed to do it via email since she wasn't available to do to it over the phone.
However, as school picked up intensity for me, I forgot about the eval until the beginning of January, which was when I got in touch with HR and my big boss, who yesterday sent me the eval, but it was for the wrong year. I'm not 100% sure how to go about asking for the right one now.

Reply to the email and ask for the right version of the eval?

I thought that was the right course of action, but it's been kind of a hassle to get anyone to respond off-season, and I've had a couple people tell me to get HR involved again (which I didn't want to do since I didn't see a reason to). I'm probably overthinking this, but it's my first job still and it's probably the best I can get for the time being, so I don't want to mess anything up if I can help it.

@Pleiades I'll second @Snow 's advice - also although you might be having trouble getting people to respond the fact that you have sent the request promptly means that the ball is in their court so any delay at their end won't reflect badly on you. Waiting until you think they are about to respond could look like you were being tardy

And someone sending you the wrong year's eval does seem pretty fundamental. It sounds as though you're looking for a complicated solution to a simple problem here. If you just let HR know that you've requested the right version of the eval, I don't see what other problem there could be here.

3:24 PM
I've been offered complicated solutions to the same problem as well, which has influenced a lot of my thinking on this. I really just wanted to see if getting HR involved was really necessary, since a lot of answers on this site seem to advise against it, and I'd rather not start any trouble if I can. HR isn't really the one to handle the performance evals; your department head is, and since she left and I haven't heard about anyone new being hired/promoted yet, I got in touch with them first.

@Pleiades if HR aren't part of the performance eval process then I'd say there's no need to contact them or get them involved

4:21 PM
Heya @IamSoNotListening I thought you retired on IPS! :P

@Tinkeringbell het may not have, but I have. It's too frustrating over there for me.

lol. I'm having frustations of my own over there. but it's too late in the day and too middle of the week for me to really fight things.

@Snow Maybe when the group solidifies a bit, but for now, no way.
I just can't relate to the current crowd.

I rage-quit for the day. I'm gone for now. Have a good day, folks!

You too @Snow

4:39 PM
Good luck @snow.

@Tinkeringbell maybe just semi retired....not going to justify my answers and comments anymore. The community can delete them if they like. :-}
@TheSnarkKnight he got sucked into the mosh pit.....

@IamSoNotListening yeah, I'm tired of the armchair psychologists myself.

yep....@TheSnarkKnight
later everyone :-)

@IamSoNotListening yeah, and the Values dissonance
Later

5:15 PM
@IamSoNotListening Just teasing you... but I am curious now.... were that question posted here, would it have been closed because it lacked research effort?
@TheSnarkKnight Tiny is missing you in chat ;) Shall I tell him to go over here?

@Tinkeringbell Here, not sure. The expectation though is the OP has at least done a google search for the (an) answer.
@Tinkeringbell I have actually used a LMGTFY link as a comment / answer

@IamSoNotListening I did find the meta on that one ;)
I wrote an answer stating that once, and linked to the google things I found... the 'let me google that for you' sentence was edited out... I never made much fuss about it, but this seems to me like it needs some discussing over at IPS....

there is one, on LMGTFY, which I was "kindly" pointed to. Basically was on the border of against our be nice policy, so I stopped. ( I definitely wasn't the first to do it.

@Snow, you've rage-quitted on your meta. Are you going to put up another one? Because this really is something IPS needs to work out so if you're not going to do it, I will.

@Tinkeringbell he most likely won't be back today

5:25 PM
@IamSoNotListening I'll be stalking this room tomorrow then ;) It can wait, it's not that urgent, but it does need discussion.

Is the question "Should a user do a basic google search before asking a question?"

Sort of... I think we should require some sort of research effort... "How to deal with a stutter' --> There's plenty of resources on that. Have you tried any of them yet? Which? What are you looking for besides other people doing a google search for you?

That would be some sort of StackOverflow approach. On the other hand, I've been over at Movies some time too lately, and they regularly get questions to which the answer is a 'simple' google search... And these are considered 'good'... :/

@Tinkeringbell I know on StackOverFlow they will drop the hammer hard if you post a stupid easily googleable question

I know that too :/ Which is basically why I'm looking at TWP meta posts now, and I might rummage through parenting as well.... both are a bit more subjective than SO.

@Tinkeringbell Agreed.
@Tinkeringbell My thought process is the OP should put some effort out first.
some, of course, is subjective.

5:34 PM
Yeah, so we actually need a meta to define our some which is where Snow comes in ;)

@Tinkeringbell He be a bit pissed by the attitude of some....(not you) Not sure how receptive he will be.

@IamSoNotListening Yep.... we can be annoying ;)

@Tinkeringbell no comment

@IamSoNotListening ^Those are the words of a wise man :P

momma always says if you don't have anything nice to say.....

5:40 PM
My mom says 'say it anyway, helps with the frustration and afterwards you know who your real friends are!' :P

@Tinkeringbell I'm sort of in the same mindset as snow. I don't like having my motives constantly questioned. I also feel that any input I have will be dismissed out of hand not for it's merit or lack thereof, but for it's source.
but if you want to tell Tiny to drop in, sure, we'll have him :D
Going to lunch now folks, see ya l8r

@TheSnarkKnight I'm sorry to hear that.... I for one value the input we had from you, e.g. the troll thingy...
I'll tell Tiny where he can find you ;)

K. Well, you can always get input from me here @Tinkeringbell. I'm always happy to help against trolling SE. Some just don't realize that I don't troll SE, no matter how many times I say it.

@TheSnarkKnight ;) I'll keep that in mind, thanks!

6:01 PM
Heya! xD
@Tinkeringbell Hey, I'm a man, men don't miss people! man noises

@TheTinyMan You do realize you left a paper trail? :P

@Tinkeringbell Psh, not on Stack Exchange

@TheTinyMan welcome

@TheSnarkKnight Hiya! xD

6:28 PM
@Tinkeringbell Yep. I rage quit on the Meta after apaul insisted on concentrating on what I did wrong rather than address the actual question. Then Mithrandir pointed out that answers to Google questions should really point at questions on SE before the internet as a whole. Which strikes me as rather absurd.

@Snow Hmmm... I'm disappointed that the meta is gone :( But I understand. That wasn't nice.

It's entirely possible that I misunderstood, but it did seem to me that my question was largely being ignored. If you'd like to post this as a Meta question, I'm sure you'll get a better response than I ever could (I think I have a bit of a "reputation", whereas you are widely respected).

Hello everyone, how are things?
I have a quick question I want to ask you guys
Is it me, or the green color on your user profile (the green that appears over accepted questions) is different than it used to be?

I don't think it was being ignored, it was up for less than an hour. Usually it takes half a day before you have an answer, not many people are very active on meta and this one DOES need a bit of research effort if you want to write a nice an comprehensive answer....

My 'respect' is mostly fictional, but since I wasn't a party in the 'conflict', I'll try.
Btw, IMO you did nothing wrong.... you deleted the answer, asked for guidance, when there was none took the effort of writing a meta post... no need to say the things that were said :(

apaul hammered me in the chat as well as comments. I ended up just giving up. Since he's a high rep user, people are just going to defend his point of view.
@DarkCygnus - Yes, the colour is different shade of green. Lighter than before. Bleached, you might say.

6:41 PM
@Snow indeed
writing a meta post about it :)
Glad to hear that @Snow I was saying to myself "Great! I am finally starting to go blind"

See the shade next to my rep count at the to vs what's below. definitely a different shade of green there.
You may use this picture if you life.

@Tinkeringbell Yeah, I agree that @Snow was being really cooperative and the other chat user was kind of obstinately being unhelpful there. :-(

Personally, I've got too much going on in RL without getting aggravated over something online. I didn't rage quit so much as move on for health reasons.

@TheTinyMan Many thanks. I didn't see the point of fighting it, it wasn't going anywhere constructive.

@TheTinyMan "assume good intent" should be hammered home a bit more, IMO.

6:47 PM
@Snow Thanks for stepping out, no need for drama in the room while I was having dinner and would have missed it! :)

@Snow Yeah. I would have tried to cut in if I wasn't focusing on work so hard.

Haha. I smell fish pie, so I will sign off shortly.

@Snow I got tired of being psychoanalyzed.
mmmmm PIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I tried to make cabbage soup last night. "Disaster" doesn't seem to do it justice.

Right - food up, laptop down.

@TheSnarkKnight I dunno. I'm not sure that people are actively, specifically assuming ill intent on your part, but I personally definitely parsed your recent words as expressing ill intent and wasn't able to discern another possible interpretation of them a few times...but of course, when I'd ask for clarification, there was a lot going on and you didn't really have an opportunity to reply to me.
But I don't want to drag that drama into another room
and I agree that the rest of the chat could have approached you with a "what do you mean?" approach instead of a "obviously you're being a jerk here" approach

Q: Green Colors on profile have changed?

DarkCygnusDon't know if it is just me, but have the shades of green on user profiles (accepted answers, line borders, etc.) changed somehow? If we compare a screenshot from my main profile: with one of my Meta profile: We can see that the shades of green have been altered somehow. It is now more "op...

@TheTinyMan well, to sum up without rehashing it too much. I was simply trying to say that, given what I've been through in this life, I simply couldn't relate to the level of outrage being expressed over someone telling you "smile". Nothing more sinister than that. It was more of a commentary about my own perspective than anything else.

@TheSnarkKnight That makes sense. I think the snark made it sound much more aggressive and disrespectful than you intended it.

Or, for an analogy, try explaining that you're upset over putting on weight to someone who has gone hungry,
@TheTinyMan While it's no secret that I'm snarky, there was no snark in my original statement. It was after people started ascribing things to me that I got frustrated, THEN snarky.
But back to my analogy, @TheTinyMan could you see how someone who has known hunger and been emaciated, might have a WTF moment over someone complaining about needing to loose five pounds?

@TheSnarkKnight I totally get where you're coming from at this point. I think the verbiage "can't relate" helped it seem less...outwardly directed to me.

I wasn't trying to snark, I was just honestly mystified at the fact that this is an actual thing to get upset about

6:58 PM
@TheSnarkKnight There are things in life I don't understand as well... but this is really something more than 1 person gets upset about ;) The article linked to proved as much. All in all, I should've stepped in sooner, but it wasn't really helping that people were invested that much in the discussion :/
I'd really not like to cut down every discussion before it even starts :/

Then I got a bit irked over having what was done to me being called "microagressions". There is nothing "micro" about someone trying to get you fired over your disabilities.
@Tinkeringbell I can understand, at an intellectual level that people get upset over things that make no sense to me, but that doesn't make them make sense to me.
@Tinkeringbell I'm not upset with you, you have always been civil and things can get out of control quickly. I just felt like I was at the bottom of a dogpile.
@TheTinyMan I was really trying to hold back. In the past, I've said things that really hurt people, so rather than do that, I left.

@TheSnarkKnight You weren't getting much support... so I can see how that may have come into being... I hope you come back once things have settled down a bit :-)

@TheSnarkKnight I get and appreciate that. That conversation had definitely gotten to the point that ending it abruptly was the right thing to do.

Otherwise I'll just have to be really chatty here too ;)
It really should have stopped here:
in The Awkward Silence, yesterday, by Anne Daunted
well, at least i made you all stop talking about sauerkraut...

7:05 PM
@Tinkeringbell :D
@TheTinyMan yeah, it was not a hill I wanted to die on, so to speak. I really have no problem with anyone and don't hold grudges, but the things I was getting ready to say, well... You know the old expression, "You can't un-ring a bell."

@TheSnarkKnight Yeah. And I did notice that other people were past that point and not quite as cautious about willfully throwing stones, as it were.
Man...I think I mixed some metaphors badly back there somewhere. :-p

@TheTinyMan Yeah, when I get to the point of throwing stones, people find them very pointed and aimed towards the soft spots, which is why I don't do it.
I've done some bad things in this life, and said things that can't be unsaid to people I really cared about. I can't help that, but I can make sure I don't do it again.

2 hours ago, by Tinkeringbell
My mom says 'say it anyway, helps with the frustration and afterwards you know who your real friends are!' :P
Really, you can care all you want about those people but if they won't accept an apology, they're not friends ;)

I'm gonna go with @TheSnarkKnight on this one. O.o Some wounds are easier to heal than others, and it's usually better not to inflict them if you can avoid it.

Okay, but make sure to keep the stones for when you do need to get people out of your life ;)

7:21 PM
@Tinkeringbell There are less hurtful ways to eject people though, I think. And ways that maybe close doors without jamming them shut.

@Tinkeringbell I don't like to hurt people, but I'm very good at it, and once I start, I don't stop. So, I just don't start.

@TheSnarkKnight I might be a bit too revengeful for that. I have a nasty character sometimes, if and when people deserve it... I'm the kind of 'when I snap, I snap good!'

@Tinkeringbell Ooh, man...I'm learning about a side of you that I didn't know existed! :o

@Tinkeringbell Oh yes. I understand that indeed. I took revenge on a workplace bully one time. He ended up needing to see a counselor after that. Not proud of that fact, but it is why I hold back.

i plead the 5th, regarding revenge

7:29 PM
Favorite line from Doctor Who. "Good men don't need rules, today is not the day to find out why I have so many"
@ChrisE I don't have to, only because the statute of limitations has run out on some of the things I did.

@ChrisE 5th? what's that in european law?

dunno, does europe have laws that says the govt can't force you to incriminate yourself?

@ChrisE Probably, never had to find out ;)

@Tinkeringbell en.wikipedia.org/wiki/… "Pleading the fifth" is shorthand for "I do not have to answer and will not answer, because answering will incriminate me." Outside of the courtroom, it's usually used as a joke. :-)

close.

7:32 PM
@ChrisE Did I phrase that badly?

it's refuse to answer and "may incriminate me" ;)

@ChrisE Yeah but that's not how anyone is ever gonna interpret that...although I think they're legally required to try to. :-P

because a judge can still try to compel you to answer under certain conditions, such as if you're granted immunity.
grant a witness immunity and you can lock them up for not testifying.

@ChrisE or, if you've already given testimony. You can't just tell the parts that make you look good.

@ChrisE Weird...

7:37 PM
@Tinkeringbell not as weird as it sounds. When you've granted immunity, it's essentially a contract. By refusing to testify, you've violated that contract
You can't compel someone to testify against themselves, but you CAN compel testimony against a third party.

@TheSnarkKnight depending on the situation. in court, that's true if you're the defendant, but not if you''re a witness. Same with testifying before congress.

@ChrisE which is why I never say boo to LE

@Snow I have a live stream of this on my monitor...

@TheSnarkKnight Ah, I missed out on the third party part.

7:39 PM
I am surprised @Snow was / is back so quick after a rage quit

@TheSnarkKnight you can't compel someone to testify against themselves if they'll be incriminated which is why immunity is important.

@Tinkeringbell no way...

@IamSoNotListening Do.
Want a story to prove it?

@Tinkeringbell I think I was involved in one ;-)

@TheSnarkKnight I love talking to police, means there's something going on ;)

7:40 PM
Richard and I steal a car. We both get caught. Neither one would testify because it would convict us both. If one gets immunity, he could then testify against the other.

@IamSoNotListening Oh no, that was nothing
That was just me being stubborn, not revengeful

Of course, in practice, you can compel certain people to testify but that doesn't mean they will in a useful way.

@Tinkeringbell I see, there is a diff

It did help though, answers are getting flagged/deleted vlq/naa a lot easier now :P

@ChrisE and that's why they set up different interrogation rooms

7:41 PM
And yes, don't talk to the police any more than legally necessary. If you're a passenger in vehicle, not at all.

@Tinkeringbell I won't be compelled to not comment or to improve my answer ever again. If that helps...

@IamSoNotListening I got inside the head of a workplace bully so badly that he got sick every time he had to come to work.

@TheSnarkKnight what a wimp

@IamSoNotListening, no I'm just that good at it.

@TheSnarkKnight You can only get in someones head if the allow it.

7:43 PM
@IamSoNotListening Meh, you were just an unfortunate victim ;) I did learn to look at profiles after that, and comment to the extent of 'we're a bit different than 'your highest rep site here', please see meta 1,2,3 as to how a good answer should look'.... and then just flag vlq ;)
Also helps that we're better capable of counteracting HNQ now

@ChrisE The only things you should ever say to the police: "Am I free to go?", "Am I being detained", "I don't answer questions", and "Should I call my lawyer"
3

@TheSnarkKnight isn't this from a movie??

I got a workplace bully fired (after he fired me) by emailing his boss' boss about how we were made to help him lie during audits. (which just meant forward him the code and don't talk to auditors). Oh, and I also said why he didn't want to be audited. :)

@IamSoNotListening not true. I have the savant skill of pattern analysis. If I want in, I get in.

@ChrisE sounds like justice to me....
@TheSnarkKnight Challenge accepted!! ;-}

7:45 PM
What's with all the workplace bullies? Aren't people just nice to each other over there?

@Tinkeringbell BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!
No, they're not

@Tinkeringbell assholes exist everywhere

@TheSnarkKnight If I'm the driver, I'll be chatty depending on the situation. Sometimes you'll just get a warning. be a dick and you'll get a ticket every time. I rarely talk if I'm the passenger out of principle.

@IamSoNotListening Yeah well they sort of anatomically have to....

@Tinkeringbell LFAO
LMAO
type sir type!!

7:46 PM
@ChrisE yeah, I've pulled a few Jedi mind tricks over the years.
If you're in a car, it's different. If you're just walking down the street, nothing.

@IamSoNotListening Don't do that, you'll need it later. I've never seen a bully luckily, nor experienced people who experienced bullying. So either people are being really secretive about it (which makes me worry a bit now that I mention it) or my colleagues are just great :)

@Tinkeringbell you could be lucky.

@Tinkeringbell Yeah I work with pretty good folks too.

I just got rid of one here a few months ago. He tried to throw me under the proverbial bus.

I have worked with some real doozies though....

7:48 PM
it didn't end well for him

I grew up with a cop so I know all about "he talked himself into a ticket" stories. I know a deputy here. (Sheriff's departments here around atl don't do traffic). He wrote only 1 guy a ticket in 20 years. Because the guy said "you can't write tickets!"

Well, of course there's the team mate I got fired but that wasn't because he was a bully....

@IamSoNotListening we had this director that actually threw things at people, and beat up a box fan with a plank, while it was running

@TheSnarkKnight That is where video is the best. whip out the phone and record....

that's a license to quit and still get unemployment

7:49 PM
@ChrisE an officer once pulled me over for an equipment violation. I thanked him for letting me know, told him I was at lunch and told him where I was going to get it fixed. NO TICKET

@ChrisE hahaha :) Cool cops ;) We had some over on old-years-day.... something with shitty kids and fireworks... That cop was seriously good looking and cute :)

@IamSoNotListening this was in the 1990s, before cell phones could record video

oh, bummer

Cops and ER nurses have the best stories. Always.

I would have loved to see that one.

7:50 PM
@ChrisE yeah, when I worked in traffic safety, I got some good stories

@ChrisE My best bud is a lieutenant on the alpharetta police dept
@ChrisE He has awesome stories....

exactly. :)

@ChrisE oh, and Hotel Staff have some doozies too.
ah, sometimes I confuse English with German and start to capitalize the nouns

you capitalize nouns in german?

@ChrisE yes, it's strange

7:52 PM
@ChrisE Don't ask :P

I had no idea.

I had to learn German in high school... there's no way to write things without making an error in capitalization

@ChrisE that's why sometimes I will write things like Hotel Staff

I gathered. :)

instead of hotel staff
I remember Mark Twain's famous quote of reading a book in German, not being able to understand it until he got to the last page, where he found all the verbs

7:54 PM
lol
Doc put me on Cymbalta and started it today. Feels like I'm eating paper towels (dry mouth) and it's trying to put me to sleep.

Drink more water than you think is possible.

I'm having to. this is nuts.
I think I'm going to have to take it at night. the interwebs tell me it can take up to 8 weeks for side effects to subside.

sounds about right

it's an interesting drug. major depression, anxiety and pain.

@ChrisE just don't go Delores O'riorden on us.

8:18 PM
I know she died but didn't read the CoD.

Q: Different shades of green across sites?

DarkCygnusI recently noticed some differences on the green shades (accepted answers, etc.) on The Workplace's Main and Meta sites, and raised a Meta question there. However, further analyzing the situation I noticed that the shades of green are different across some sites. For example here on MSE we can s...

Posted a MetaSE regarding the color (apparently it is indeed a thing)
Any feedback or support welcomed
(As I suspected, including the support tag instead of the bug tag increases the positive reception of questions posted over there)

@ChrisE it was likely either an OD or suicide, she suffered from bipolar and chronic pain.

Well, neither is a real concern for me. I thought of it for a short bit 2 weeks ago but I realized I could never put my family through what I was feeling. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
