@user193319 No, burning consumes items, doesn't drop them.
Burning can be useful to clear out an unwanted jungle or something, but no, you won't get the goods.
@goodguy5 I'm playing Sky Factory 4 at the moment. Good so far; although a lot different than I'm used to (no EnderIO, no sifting, no storage drawers!!)

@BradC Yea, the no storage drawers was weird, but make sure you look into the filing cabinets.

@goodguy5 yeah, that looks like the way to go; although getting resources in and out of them is pretty darn annoying.

simple storage network

Haven't yet tackled what to use for pipes/tubes/item transport; that's when I'll really start missing item conduits from EnderIO.

filing cabinet + simple storage network = happiness

4:18 PM
@goodguy5 Yep, that seems like the route to go; kind of a shame that using file cabinets by themselves is so annoying. But (near) limitless storage kind of makes up for it
No more emerald drawer upgrades!

And the filing cabinets, imo, make the crates and barrels almost useless

@goodguy5 Yeah, I looked into it a bit, and crates and barrels aren't even a meaningful improvement over normal chests, hardly
Sadly missing my compacting drawers, though, I lived for them

Well, the storage upgrades are good, and void upgrade

(compacting cobble chain, blocks, ingots, and nuggets of all metals available at all times, etc)

I use crates and barrels for water, lava, cobble, and oak wood.
@BradC You can use the ..... it might be called a compactor?
it's a like... teal crafting table looking thing.

4:21 PM
@goodguy5 Right, but that's a one-time action, right? Like ingots in, blocks out?

With the processing links, you can almost automate that sort of thing.

It's pretty cludgy, though,

Having a compacting drawer in a storage array makes all versions available at all times.

oh yea, I know.
It's not perfect

yep. I'm not all that far along, just getting all my sapling types finished

but If you set up your SSN decently early on, it'll comfortably carry you until you get your ME system set up
That's the best time to start
That's my biggest regret, so far, I think, is not taking more time to properly organize my situation before I got everything set up
And the Cyclic wireless transmitters are your best friend.

4:24 PM
yeah, my tiny island is a big mess; hardly room to walk. If I decide to do a lets-play I'll lay things out much more deliberately

I'm right on the cusp of switching from SSN to ME system
But I'm dreading it
Are you doing the prestige point mode?

@goodguy5 Not on my current runthrough; I started before I watched the lets play by the creator
You?

oh no, and I'm glad.
Kind of watching Chosen Architect play through it on prestige point mode, and what a pain.
I mean, he's basically past the point where it's bothersome, now, but it slows down the early game immensely

I think having to learn a whole new system for resources (saplings and pigs) is hard enough

yea
The early game is already slow enough, I don't need to add 10 hours to my playtime just because.
grinding != challenge

4:30 PM
Vein miner is only crucial for things like mining in the nether. Really not super central in a skyblock world

the leaves and logs
until you can get the hopping bonsais set up, which are also prestige locked

Yeah, helpful, but not indispensable. Unless you wanted to harvest giant rubber trees or something (which I have no idea if they're in the pack or not).

I did have an oak do the extra large growth, and was happy to vein mine it

And at this point I have more wood than I know what to do with

I've been considering making an auto charcoal generator
bonsai --> sticks, saplings, and leaves go into the fuel part
|
|
V
wood goes into the cook slot --> Charcoal comes out

4:34 PM
that seems like it would work well. And then charcoal just as needed for furnaces? Or to fuel a specific generator?

to fuel a charcoal generator lol
Or "solid fuel" whatever it's called
but my biofuel generators are doing pretty well, so I doubt I'll mess with it in the foreseeable future.

cool. I haven't gotten into any power yet

Remember what I said. Wireless Transfer Nodes.
You can make your power generation area in one location and just teleport the power to your machines, as needed

So the other day I was musing more about the very beginning of the game, and wondering if I could make lava with a wood cauldron or if I need a brick or stone one
well, turns out you can make lava in a wood cauldron

haha. I wondered that too and I wasn't sure

4:39 PM
also, you can light your island on fire

awesome!
oh ... yea

:O

less awesome

So if you have cobble to put IN the cauldron, then you should be able to easily make a cobble or stone cauldron

btw, cabinets can be set side-by-side.

4:40 PM
(which... melting cobble in a cobble cauldron seems wrong somehow, but it works)

eh you can also have a glass cauldron, so, idk

You get clay before sand. Brick cauldron is what I made the first time though

Same, I think

There is a super easy early-game dirt generator, though:

oh yea?

4:43 PM
You just need lots of leaves, a clay bucket, and one of those stomper things

oh yea lol

1. Stomp some leaves to get water, make an infinite water source
2. Fill a cauldron with water
3. Add a single dirt for mud
4. Add 4 leaves for 4 grass blocks!

yea
good times

5. Place and pick up a grass to turn it back to dirt (if you run out)
6. Then rinse and repeat

that pun tho

4:44 PM
lol, tru

You can apparently make potions in a cauldron, but I haven't tried it yet

Right now I'm overflowing with leaves.

Oh, I'm going to tell you this because it took me days to figure out. maybe you're more knowledgeable about these sorts of packs.

The cyclic cables can be rotated with the hammer and certain sides can be deactivated with a redstone torch

Yeah, I'll definitely use cabinets for my revised sapling farm. Right now I have only a handful of bonsais, I need to make a full set

It's called "Hammer", though it definitely looks like a wrench/spanner

4:47 PM
@goodguy5 Thanks, I'll try that when I get that far
Chosen Architect seems to really like the supplementary Tinker's stuff... when real tinkers isn't that much harder to make
And can't we just melt cobble and pour into ingot molds to get more?
We could easily have a huge normal tinker setup in the same time as he's playing around with all that tinker alloy combiner thingy

@BradC It's prestige locked
Now, granted, he could have spent the point, built his set up and respecced, but w/e
I actually just upgraded my smeltery from 4x4x3 to 5x5x4 last night

@goodguy5 Ah, didn't know it was locked
I should start a new world in prestige mode just so I understand what all those locked items are

the pickaxe is excavator
and I don't know what the red capsule thing is

what's the "expanded range" red/yellow arrow thingy? Is that mob fans and mob grinder?

yea, I think so
mob utils is the mod, I think
I built my mob farm with them and then forgot about it lol

5:03 PM
yeah, fans and mob grinder and upgrades is pretty necessary. Haven't built my farm yet, I'm curious to see what all the drops I get (don't spoil me)

youbetcha

I did just make a grinder and fans to chew up some chickens I spawned to get lots of feathers

ha, nice
I love the vanilla auto chicken setup.

spawning mobs via seeds is just kinda weird, but hey, it works
Ok, I'm going to lunch; see you later

have fun ^_^
