@Fomite @anongoodnurse Well ain’t nobody going to be proven anything in any case, unless the two of you would like to set up a parallel site to maintain the health name and be our control. And we’ll let Fomite figure out the blinding protocol. :-P
I’m pretty sure you’re right that it isn’t going to prevent personal questions; I just think it might help. Based on the activity on this site and the level of commitment on the Area 51 medicine proposal, it doesn’t seem to me like having two different sites is viable at the moment, so I would like to encourage this one to go that direction, a move that would possibly also discourage the content that is already off-topic.

@Susan For my next trick, I will require an elaborate DNS redirecting system, and a vast array of StackExchange bots...
I honestly think the activity isn't there to sustain a professional-to-professional site. Which is a pity, but makes sense given the target audience for SE as a whole.

1:19 AM
@Fomite I don’t know. I can see why you say that (target audience for SE) given the substantial overlap of programmers and something like cross-validated.
@Fomite And now you’ve lost me. But sounds like fun. :-)

1:55 AM
(And anyway, even if you think a professional-to-professional medicine site doesn't have adequate potential users, if we all agree that that sort of thing is what the SE model works for - as opposed to "my father's uncle's friend had a wart that looks kind of like that and he...." - what's the point in not trying to push this one to be the sort of thing we think would work? Or in creating a separate site that you don't think has enough users?)

2:38 AM
@Susan I personally think we should try to make Health a site more for professionals. It will need a lot of work to get that done though.

3:02 AM
@michaelpri What sort of thing are you thinking of?
("work to get that done")

@Susan Just a lot of promoting, I think. We need to get our site's name out to the world.

@michaelpri Agreed. I was actually just wondering if we had an ad on bio and hey what about cross-validated, since there are a certain number of "health science" :-) types there.

Also, we need to raise the site's quality, because maybe experts will come here, but be like, "Oh, this is just a site for the public, I don't need to be here" or something like that
@Susan We have one on Chemistry and one on Cooking
I posted one on Bio, but it wasn't upvoted enough.

3:31 AM
@michaelpri Oh yeah, I recall seeing (and voting for that). Thanks! Too bad it didn't make it. Maybe we can try again at some point. Another thing to think about is whether we're doing what we can to make things google-able. I have no idea.

3:47 AM
@Susan Well, the visits per day have been going up, and a lot of our traffic is coming from search engines

2 hours later…
6:01 AM
how about asking the SE team to make the site has the A/B testing feature?

6:11 AM
I ask on the Meta: Can a site have an A/B test?
