It is finished. My desk is finally finished.
Sorry for the potato quality, but imgur.com/OGEGpU4
@Zizouz212 This is what I was working on yesterday.

@Cfinley Nice. I like the style of it. Very roomy.

It is quite a bit taller than my old desk, so that will take time to get used to.
Now all I need is that monitor stand that I asked about earlier

> Publicity. This is crucial. I really can't emphasize it enough. People have to know about Hardware Recommendations. The typical way is through Community Promotion Ads, which seem to work (though I don't think anyone's tried to prove it). Related communities can also be mined; examples that spring to mind are Software Recommendations (of course) and Super User. Support from outside Stack Exchange is also a possibility.
So...who's good at graphic design?

Would anyone be interested in writing a few blog posts for this site?
I could write a few about the hardware that I already own, kind of like a review article
That might help a few people find this site.

Ideas on where you'd post them?

I am not sure how that would work. I know other some other sites have a blog.<sitename>.stackexchange.com, I just dont know how to set one up for us, if that is even still possible.
Now that I say that, I am having trouble finding a site still in beta that has a blog

First thing is getting community promotion ads out to other SE sites.

@Adam I posted the first meta topic about that. We need to determine which other sites would be relevant
I've got the follow up written too...but I want a few answers on the existing question first
@Cfinley SE doesn't offer them any more.

Q: We're no longer starting new individual site Community Blogs - here's why

Grace NoteWe've learned a lot by creating these per-site blogs for any site which asked for them. However, we at Stack Exchange have not been doing enough to make blogs work - neither for the contributors nor for the communities that are associated with them. On our network, any site will have generated s...

@Andy Thanks for the link. For once, I think I would have used it. Oh well.

Q: Which other Stack Exchange sites have a userbase that would be interested in our site?

AndyNow that we've reached Public Beta, part of our job is getting the word about Hardware Recommendations out. One way to do that is via Community Ads. These ads are voted upon by the Stack Exchange community we want the ads to appear on, thus those sites should have relevance to Hardware Recommenda...

You're slow feeds

You stole my rep @Andy. >:|

@Adam 😇

I just recommended another Corsair PSU.
I have an RM750 in my desktop and it's literally the best thing ever.

Hii people, posted this question http://hardwarerecs.stackexchange.com/questions/489/are-there-any-good-tablets-for-writers-and-authors

Do let me know whether it's description fits the scope. I can't see the close votes now (Damn, the graduation >:| )
So, do let me know how can I improve the question in anyway as this recommendation is very important to me.

@Dawny33 I'd close it as too broad, I think. It's the kind of thing that could be answered by a quick Google search - Robert excluded questions like that because there's no point in having them here.

9:59 AM
@ArtOfCode Thank you for letting me know.

I have indeed done a google search, but the results confuse me rather than helping me select. So, I thought it would be better asking it here, so that I can get precise answers,(from people who have actually used them) rather than head-to-head comparisons, etc on the seach hits.

@Dawny33 Aye, I get that. I'm just not sure whether it actually fits in our scope or not.

@ArtOfCode If I were asked that, then I would say it definitely fits in our scope, as the question is about hardware(a tablet) which is suitable for writers and authors.

It's just that I am not sure with the specifications needed, apart from the software and file specs; as I am an amateur writer.

But, I definitely think there wouldn't be any stand-out specifications which would define tabs for writers.

So, I had to include specs which I really needed, which is portability, battery life and OS.

@Adam I should have asked my question this morning, as I was pretty tired when I posted it. I feel asleep before I could get to your answer.

I'm traveling this week, so limited time to do my leg work here - what's the consensus on opening to the public - is it tough to parse the questions and make sure they are correctly scoped? Do people "get" the intent of the site do you think

@AdamC, not sure yet. We haven't had a lot of new users. Give it a week and reask the question

hi can you plz halp me buy a computer? what one should i buy?thnx

points at a rock That one looks good

@Andy thx!@!!!
(lol)

8:09 PM
@AdamC Out of the questions we've received from new users since open beta, I'm willing to say the scope is clear enough for people to ask questions that, at the very least, have something to do with looking for new hardware.
There have been a few questions that needed a push to get some requirements and clarification.

If anyone has ad ideas, throw them at me. Looking forward to throwing in some heart-wrenching hardware-related puns.
