@Gryphon Cliffhangers are always good. Juggernaut is currently at part 6. Each one seems to be around 5.000 words (~25 minute reads). My parts have always been 3.000 to 3.500 words (~15 minute reads). Especially "ambush" could have been one story, but I felt the cliffhanger was good and if I worked on one piece for too long I probably would never finish it.
Do what you feel fits your story best and what is easiest for you.

@Secespitus OK. So there is a precedent for stories with lots of parts. I hadn't realized how far along Juggernaut was (I stopped reading it because of certain...scenes). That's excellent, I'll split it into two and submit the draft for part three now.
My parts are usually about 2,500 words (~10 minutes), although I think the fourth part of the new story will be a bit longer.

@Gryphon I don't see a problem with parts being smaller or bigger. Maybe some people like really short short-stories or longer short-stories and would therefore prefer if you roughly stick to one style (ah, yes, Gryphon, who always writes stuff I can read on the bus to work, posted something - gonna read it), but I don't think that's really important. In my case it just seems to be that ~3.000 to 4.000 words are a good size for each chapter or story.
It just feels right for what I've posted so far.

@MonicaCellio? Before I get on with the story of the Cuban Missile War, do you feel that a blog post on the research and sources would be useful?
Just asking.

@Gryphon sorry for my tardiness. I see you've already decided on an answer, but just to reinforce what @Secespitus said, cliffhangers are good, there's no particular rule, and we have series with way more parts than yours. I think it's always a good idea to give people a way to find the rest of the series (and part one if it's serial fiction), but four parts especially not too spread out seems perfectly fine to me.
@FutureHistorian I think a blog post about how you approached building your world/writing your story and what you learned along the way would be great. Think of it as a "worldbuilding process" post. Hang on; I'll get links to some posts that have done that in various ways, just for background.

@MonicaCellio Excellent. Has anything else been submitted? Other than Seperatrix's new Luna story and my Golden Sails ones?

@Gryphon currently Luna and three Golden Sails. And some hopes about other posts people are working on. :-)

Excellent. I'm just working with FutureHistorian on his now.

@Gryphon that's one of those hopes, yes. :-)

@MonicaCellio I think I'll finish the first draft for my next story some time this week and check it a few days later, so it'll probably be ready for publishing by Friday next week.
