@gertvdijk The slashes in http:// don't really mean anything, but they're kept for backwards compatibility and because people recognize it as indicating a URL.

how rediculous is it if a simple Python script changes the nice level for you hardcoded? I believe this is very blunt and should be reported as a bug, right?
It's like this: def init(): os.nice(19)

@gertvdijk Well, hard to be completely sure without knowing any of the context, but probably. Especially since bugs can be wishlist items as well. I suspect if its an open source project, a patch would be appreciated to add an, e.g., --nice option to set the nice level. Or maybe the author would be willing to just strike the line, on the suggestion that the nice command be used instead—depends on how its invoked, I guess.
