@AndrasDeak Oh, I see. Thank you for explaining.

Is there currently a way to export a post (question or answer) as text, other than the primitive one of copy paste? A search suggests that one can download the "body" using the API. But even assuming I can figure out how to do this, it will probably be some kind of markup. HTML, possibly.

8:45 AM
@AndrasDeak I reformatted based on your suggestions. Let me know what you think - stackoverflow.com/a/70724819/350713
I was wondering about breaking up the two long lines in the shell script.
I just got an update: chromium (97.0.4692.71-0.1~deb11u1) bullseye-security; urgency=high
A very very long update. Does this go some way to towards fixing outstanding security vulnerabilities?
Is the changelog mentions CVEs, does that mean those CVEs have been fixed?
@AndrasDeak This so-called code fencing seems like a better way. I'll use that in the future. Indentation is just a pain.
I'm also wondering why this update, signed-off by Andres Salomon, says "Non-maintainer upload". What happened to the maintainers?

9:14 AM
@FaheemMitha yeah, that's more or less what I had in mind
@FaheemMitha it usually implies that
@FaheemMitha yes, that's why I recommended it

@AndrasDeak That's a lot of fixes, in that case.

it does say "urgency=high"

I count over 100. In one changelog entry.

nice
I assume they are listed with some context, though. Rather than just a dump of CVE codes floating in a vacuum.

@AndrasDeak What are your thoughts about breaking up long lines in a shell script?
@AndrasDeak Possibly. I have no idea.
It could just be a big pile o' bugs.

9:19 AM
@FaheemMitha I usually do that

9:43 AM
@AndrasDeak Not sure what you mean. Do what? Break them up? And if so, how? I seem to recall that putting a `` at the end of a shell script line serves as a continuation character.

Yes, a backspace with nothing after it is line continuation. But I bet there are online resources saying this too. They might even work in single-quoted strings. (If not, at worst you could split up the strings and put them next to one another.)
but I'm probably the least bash-savvy user here who could help you

@AndrasDeak I actually typed `\`.

I know

But I think my single backslash disappeared.

when I said "backspace" I meant "backslash" of course

9:51 AM
@AndrasDeak LOL

@AndrasDeak Not sure what that means. Did I accidentally edit out the backslash?

no, just chat markdown is weird
the bottom version is how you typed it, the top one is the rendered markdown
edited messages look like this: chat.stackexchange.com/messages/60164828/history

@AndrasDeak Oh, I wasn't aware the history showed both versions.
@AndrasDeak Yes, I see.

I was just looking at mathoverflow.net/questions/413815/… and it's not currently showing reps. At least they appear momentarily when loading the page, but then disappear almost immediately.

1:25 PM
Reputation points? Works here; maybe the mathjax is interfering somehow?

2:09 PM
It looks like it's intended: meta.mathoverflow.net/questions/5218/…

2:22 PM
@fra-san another good find; thank you!
I don't have an account there, so maybe that makes a difference? I'm still seeing reputation points.
Maybe it's my side & javascript...
confirmed :)

@JeffSchaller I wouldn't know, I don't have an account there either, but I can't see reputations.

I have a javascript blocker; I got so used to it working on SO/SE sites that I didn't think to check it for Math Overflow; it was blocking the javascript that hides the rep points.

@JeffSchaller This one was easy :-)
Something that visible is unlikely not to have a corresponding question near the top of the per-site Meta.

It's easier when you can see the intended behavior :)

Definitely.

2 hours later…
4:37 PM
@fra-san huh
It also doesn't hide on mobile

4:52 PM
I had no idea something like that could be done on a per-site basis.
