@bit Note that normally rebuilding an rpm from source (which used to involve installing a "source" rpm) should be an option. For that to work, the source rpm would have to be available, of course.
Not sure if that will help you here or not. But that's a good way to get around dependencies which don't match exactly.
@AndrasDeak How about a tablet?
@AndrasDeak I'm just going by Amazon reviews here, but at least in India, if there is a problem with the Kindle, Amazon will suggest you throw it away and buy a new one. I didn't pay much attention to the details, but I got the impression that if it's within the warranty period they'll offer a discount on the new one. Big whoop.
I don't know if this kind of approach is standard procedure in, say, the US.
@AndrasDeak I don't have anything against ereaders. But some searching suggests that the only ereader easily available here is the Kindle.
I had a French guest once who showed me his ereader, which was also French, and said he didn't think much of the Kindle. I can't remember the manufacturer's name.

@FaheemMitha wasn't that kobo ?

@FaheemMitha tablet is a big limited phone, so no
@FaheemMitha I see

@Archemar The French guest's ereader? It might have been.
They seem like big international players, whoever they are.
At some point you could buy a Kobe here, based on old listings on internet stores, but apparently not currently.
I don't know about support, though.
Trying to buy electronics in India can often be a frustrating experience.
Hmm, looks like people are departing Freenode.
So, if I drop a Kindle, will it break? And is a screen protector for the Kindle useful?

12:52 PM
Yes and yes
I recommend a smart case plus screen protector
Smart because it has a magnet and wakes/sleeps the kindle

1:12 PM
And I suppose playing frisbee with the Kindle is out the question.

@FaheemMitha that depends on whether you want to continue using it as a frisbee only, or as an ebook reader as well

@FaheemMitha too heavy and crappy aerodynamics

But it may improve over time -- corners rounding as it hits other objects.

1:33 PM
I think I have note on my kindle saying "it is OK to use as frisbee, exepct in India"

@user3342816 obs-studio caused a skype call to lose connection due to what seemed to be a massive CPU usage spike. I had to close obs-studio to be able to continue the skype call. I was using a single window capture source.
@user3342816 This might be useful next time I want to use obs-studio
Just to add, all windows were freezing or experiencing serious lag, so it may have been a low memory availability problem instead of a CPU usage problem.

8:00 PM
@bit: That was not good. I do not have any spike when recording. The CPU status goes from about 1.3% to 2.2% (10 fps). But I use the GPU (NVENC)
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/guides/broadcasting-guide/
RAM usage is also negligible. For recording net meetings I lowered FPS to 10 as I usually do not have use for more on that type of recording. At 60 fps it's around 6% CPU, but RAM usage is still barely noticeable.
Not sure if it can have something to do with Wayland (as I use X11)
But, you could ask on their discord. Likley someone there that have some pointers in regards to Wayland. And at least OBS in general.

urgh, terdon edited my answer to change "parenthesis" to "parentheses". I had to do a double take to even notice what the change was. And then went to check a dictionary. And then went to check how many times I've made that mistake before :D oh dear...

9:13 PM
parenthesis is a thesis you write about your parents 5 years after you moved from home.

@ilkkachu one of the less crucial mistakes one can make
