@forest surely you must be mistaken. I was assured by strangers on the internet that microsoft are the good guys now.
their CEO is literally Mother Theresa

I've read some convincing arguments that mother theresa was actually quite a terrible person who was mostly just concerned with self promotion

That was my first thought too. She was a sadomasochist.

ahhhhhhh
Saturday and Sundays are really boring days, I was thinking at the weekend more people facing with a lot of issues and they would come here to ask, but it sounds to me that I was totally wrong about that
every issues start after they came to work 😂
and ask for Monday mistakes issues to fix

😂 OK, sounds everyone is at their rest time 👀

@αғsнιη Lunch time here.
I'm inclined to believe the chances of messing up are the same on any day of the week. But on Sat/Sun people is more likely to just sigh, close their laptop's lid and go doing something else :-)

👀
ahh, I see, our weekend is on Thursdays and Fridays
@fra-san
and same, quiet as the same reason : )

12:47 PM
@αғsнιη I didn't know that. TIL.

@αғsнιη that is one aggressive Terdon

1:15 PM
@fra-san a bad mistake so far I did was "rm wantedToDeleteSomeFiles *" in root directory
so I deleted all the files in / directory, but fortunately not so important things was there
☺️
and was our test environment
what I learened from that post is that "typing" is dangerous and it's not just all about "rm"

Well, a naive but likely effective advice would be to always use mv and then, if nothing/nobody starts yelling, rm.

It is genius. Sorcery would be touch -- -rfMircea Vutcovici Dec 5 '11 at 19:03
even existing of a file with that name is another danger

Those answers tend to be pitfall-rich. E.g. having a file named -i may be helpful and create a sense of protection, until one also happens to have a file named -rf.

someone knows my pain

2:20 PM
you experienced? @jesse_b
that looks veryyyy fun to fun, 🤩🤩

@AndrasDeak You really need to learn more about Mother Teresa.
'mother teresa site:counterpunch.org' would be a start. The second link (for me) looks promising.
@AndrasDeak MS is the same as it always was. See "leopards, spots".
Can someone tell me how to modify
time latexmk -pdflua -shell-escape impactindia1.tex &> impactindia1.latemk.log
to send stdout and stderr to standard output too? &> just sends it to the file.

4:55 PM
Maybe just: time latexmk -pdflua -shell-escape impactindia1.tex 2>&1 | tee impactindia1.latemk.log ?

Yes, I was trying tee just now. Not really heard of it, but apparently that's what it's for.
I was trying
ls sdfsdfs &> | tee foo.out
but that doesn't work.
@JeffSchaller Your version does work, though.

5:40 PM
@FaheemMitha I'll put it on my list

6:30 PM
@FaheemMitha tee takes stdin and channels it into a file (as well as passing it on to stdout), which is why yours didn't work

@AndrasDeak Not clear on the details there. I'm not even sure what &> does, except that it's a Bashism.

> &> just sends it to the file.
If you do man bash and search for &> it's surprisingly effective
It's under "Redirecting Standard Output and Standard Error"

@AndrasDeak OK
