and so deleted comments in timeline is visible for mod only or they are not there after deletion?

@AndrasDeak learning something every day! Sometimes I wish SE code was available to search through to answer these things, but usually Meta has a FAQ answer somewhere, and I imagine the 10+ year old code is pretty hairy to read at this point.

That is to say, I'm very far from knowing how all this works, offhand.
