Someone somehow managed to deface the front page of slrn.org with "Fast Payday Loans". I wonder how that was possible. One doesn't see that often.

I guess having mods would help. I don't recall that they existed in Usenet of old.

But it's built on the oldfashioned model of the internet, where everyone was supposed to be a technical person who wouldn't dream of spamming a forum.

Unfortunately, that is not the world we currently live in. But I recall the 1990s. It was much quieter then.
