@derobert Ok, noted. In any case, I see you've now closed the issue.

Heh! Happened upon an edit by tchrist and saw: "Next badge: Informed" and "Member for 9 years, 2 months" -- wonder if that's a record

3:33 PM
well, there are at least 1000 users that are older that don't have the Informed badge
1812 users. itch has been scratched :)
^%!@^ -- I messed up my SQL somewhere

3:52 PM
1859 users are older than tchrist who also don't have an Informed badge. Whew. Tim doesn't have an Informed badge, either!

I used a question on the site to learn more about systemd; if you're more familiar with it than I am, I'd appreciate any feedback on my answer here

@JeffSchaller A while back I wrote a question asking for a comparison between cron and the equivalent functionality in systemd.

@FaheemMitha I missed it! That'd be an interesting subject to tackle. As I just found out, systemd is still being updated pretty regularly, so it's hard to be authoritative on the features.

Q: Cron vs systemd timers

Faheem MithaIt was recently pointed out to me that an alternative to cron exists, namely systemd timers. However, I know nothing about systemd or systemd timers. I have only used cron. There is a little discussion in the Arch Wiki. However, I'm looking for a detailed comparison between cron and systemd tim...

It never did get much by way of answers.

85 upvotes! wow
lol "The sun is also very old, but I hope that doesn't mean we should replace it with something shinier and newer"
Well, there are two answers already -- I'll see if I have any energy left :)

6:28 PM
@JeffSchaller if you get to it eventually, that would be terrific.
The question isn't going anywhere.

Hi chat! I generally try to search by myself until any doubt is dispelled, but... this time I'm giving up.
In the context of this question of mine on our Meta: do delete votes cast from within the queue (as opposed to "recommend deletion") survive when (if) an answer is dequeued from the LQPQ (as the result of "Looks Ok")? I'm inclined to believe that they do, but couldn't find anything confirming that.

@fra-san meta.stackexchange.com/questions/5221/… has in it "Votes to delete or undelete never expire." (ref a previous chat conversation)
It's community-wiki, so has various authors, but it has the tag, so it's good enough for me
(and "hello!") :)

8:21 PM
@JeffSchaller Thanks Jeff. That is my read of the FAQ too, but I wasn't sure there was no other way delete votes could be invalidated.

@fra-san the only other avenue I can think of is a retraction, but meta.stackexchange.com/questions/5212/… doesn't list it explicitly

@JeffSchaller I see. It would seem odd to me that delete votes cannot be retracted. But I cannot vote to delete anything, so I couldn't really tell how odd it is. :-)

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I suppose it's mostly harmless; either enough people agree with you and the post is deleted, or -- not, and the post sticks around. Worst-case, maybe you run out of delete votes in that 24hr period?
apparently 5 to 17 votes-to-delete, according to meta.stackexchange.com/questions/79015/…
(via)
though the 'via' link indicates a max of 30 per day

@JeffSchaller I agree. A downside I see is that every post that is mistakenly voted on requires enough counter-votes to be dequeued. It's likely not a major one, though.

8:55 PM
Ahh, I wasn't thinking about mistaken delete votes from the queue. I can't test it, but I wonder if clicking on it again offers a retraction?
(clicking on the "delete" link of the post, I mean)
Mr. Homer might still have a delete vote from that previous conversation -- the post is still not-deleted.

@JeffSchaller Based on the comments to the feature request you linked to, I'd guess there is no "delete" link under posts you have voted to delete.

@MichaelHomer would you be willing to test this theory and revisit unix.stackexchange.com/questions/381408/… and see if there's a "delete" link there? I'd additionally be curious if you get a "retract?" prompt from clicking it.

@JeffSchaller That is where the screenshot is from!
If I click "OK" it tells me I've already voted to delete this post

@MichaelHomer ahhh, sorry! I assumed it was a reply/clarification on the 17 vs 30 vote aspect. Thanks! I guess there's no way to retract that vote, then.

Well, it was
But also it only worked because there's no retraction, or even acknowledgement that you already voted on it
Actually that's not quite true. The tooltip on the link says "You voted to delete. 2 more votes from other users are needed to delete this post", but it's still a link and it still pops that prompt up

9:10 PM
So, enough mistaken clicks in the review queue (or, outside, I suppose - if people find their way there) would delete a post. Posts can be undeleted, though, so it's still not a very permanent change. I suppose someone could find a way to game it -- someone always finds a way to game it.

@MichaelHomer Sorry, now I see that you had pointed out the poor user experience already.

@FaheemMitha Sorry: European continent.
Why? Do you have a job for me in India?
I'm willing to move for an expat status! :-)
