Hi chat! I generally try to search by myself until any doubt is dispelled, but... this time I'm giving up.
In the context of this question of mine on our Meta: do delete votes cast from within the queue (as opposed to "recommend deletion") survive when (if) an answer is dequeued from the LQPQ (as the result of "Looks Ok")? I'm inclined to believe that they do, but couldn't find anything confirming that.
@JeffSchaller I see. It would seem odd to me that delete votes cannot be retracted. But I cannot vote to delete anything, so I couldn't really tell how odd it is. :-)
I suppose it's mostly harmless; either enough people agree with you and the post is deleted, or -- not, and the post sticks around. Worst-case, maybe you run out of delete votes in that 24hr period?
@JeffSchaller I agree. A downside I see is that every post that is mistakenly voted on requires enough counter-votes to be dequeued. It's likely not a major one, though.
@MichaelHomer would you be willing to test this theory and revisit unix.stackexchange.com/questions/381408/… and see if there's a "delete" link there? I'd additionally be curious if you get a "retract?" prompt from clicking it.
@MichaelHomer ahhh, sorry! I assumed it was a reply/clarification on the 17 vs 30 vote aspect. Thanks! I guess there's no way to retract that vote, then.
But also it only worked because there's no retraction, or even acknowledgement that you already voted on it
Actually that's not quite true. The tooltip on the link says "You voted to delete. 2 more votes from other users are needed to delete this post", but it's still a link and it still pops that prompt up
So, enough mistaken clicks in the review queue (or, outside, I suppose - if people find their way there) would delete a post. Posts can be undeleted, though, so it's still not a very permanent change. I suppose someone could find a way to game it -- someone always finds a way to game it.
