Q: Where can I see the site's statistics?

phuneheheBack when we were still in beta, if I visit the site's home page I can see the statistics (number of questions, number of users, like the table on Area 51). UL is out of beta now, and it looks like Area 51 has stopped updating statistics for UL. If I want to see the current statistics, is there ...

XodarapI want to run a java command once for every match of ls | grep pattern -. In this case, I think I could do find pattern -exec java MyProg '{}' \; but I'm curious about the general case - is there an easy way to say "run a command once for every line of standard input"? (In fish or bash.)

Q: What file systems on Linux store the creation time?

franziskusAre there any (good known, reliable) file systems on Linux that store the creation time of files and directories in the i-node table? If there are, is the "changed" time replaced by the creation time of an i-node in stat call?

Q: Difference between ' and " on command line (bash)?

apoorv020I used to use '' and "" interchangeably on the command line, but I recently noticed that '$HOME/some/dir' is not expanded, while "$HOME/some/dir" is. I searched around a little bit and found that "" allows some protection of special characters, while '' allows full protection. So what other chara...

Q: How to stop application from being suspended by Ctrl+z?

phuneheheCurrently I'm running dvtm inside a terminal, and vim inside dvtm. When I press Ctrl+z intending to suspend vim, dvtm got suspended instead. I didn't have this problem with screen or tmux, so I think it must be dvtm doing something wrong (or not doing something right). How can I fix that?
