hello!

xfce keeps freezing on my wife's computer after an hour's usage or so. Mouse keeps moving, but everything else is frozen. Suggestions?

(16GB memory, 8 processors, all very underutilized.)

ok, disabled hardware acceleration, now the screeen is pretty bright... too bright...

xgamma has no effect...

@qubert just so you know, I've read the transcript and I'm afraid I really don't understand what your position is. I have a strong suspicion that a lot of context is getting lost in translation in this discussion you've been having with Stephen.

Is there any repository or package full of many scripts to test every escape sequences in any terminal? For example, this gist.github.com/hSATAC/1095100.

So, see for example:

If you happen to not be using systemd, then /var/log/syslog and /var/log/messages should cover it.

Though I think looking at both is redundant, because one includes the other. But right now, I can't remember which way it goes.

You just seem to be very angry about something to do with Stephen's statements on RMS and I honestly don't understand what position you are defending. I am guessing it has something to do with the language barrier.

I don't think there was any hint there, honestly. The phrase "lost in translation" doesn't imply any literal translation is involved, if that's what you're thinking
