Can you specify a pattern prefix with alternating suffixes in grep? E.g. grep -E "prefix_suffix1|suffix2|suffix3". My understanding of such a command is that it would match line with "prefix_suffix", "suffix2", and "suffix_3"

nothing in the manpage for grep 2.20

@Ungeheuer I think you'd want to group them, if I'm understanding you correctly: grep -E 'prefix_(suffix1|suffix2|suffix3)' so that the alternation only applies to the various suffixes

also, in the grep man page, is:

it's unfortunate that the man page doesn't put some literal parenthesis in there, since that's what I was searching for in trying to answer you :)

@JeffSchaller Of course I'm not meaning to put pressure on anyone, but I'd like to see more answers (and more viewpoints) there.

I, too, have been thinking about, and even drafting, an answer to my own question for weeks...
It basically boils down to a theory of two distinct cleanup workflows, an ordinary one and a trusted one. Which sometimes overlap in the LQPQ. But I'm not finding it convincing yet.

@fra-san I'm not sure I have a good answer, but I'm afraid of putting it off much longer. There's always editing! I'm a few moments away from posting it.

@fra-san I think part of what's bothering me is that "handling the LQP queue" is tied to "deleting Answers in general". I've mainly answered in the "LQP queue" vein, but it certainly leaves open a thread of "outside of the LQP queue, when should I flag/vote to delete an answer?"

@MichaelHomer should I expand on that point some more? I intended to address concerns people might have with saying "This look OK!" to an answer that they don't feel is correct or good enough.
