@FaheemMitha Well i might be biased here but i don't like the policy about opening different ads to be allowed form Ad-Block_plus, so i switched a while ago to uBlock-Origin and privacy-badger for blocking tracking cookies. But that is like i said my personal choice.

@Videonauth How do you like Block-Origin and privacy-badger? Is it possible to function if you are blocking tracking cookies?

@FaheemMitha works wonderfully, I see no ads anyhwere, and blocking tracking cookies is just the cherry on top :) (of course you can switch of ad blocking where you want to see it, for example the SE network i have disabled it)

however it works wonderful still :) and even is capable of running on FF57

Tho i still hold out on 56 until they release 58 which maybe finally allows some of my most used add ons to be updated for the newer FF

The API in FF57 is incomplete and so many add-on developers can only hope that the rest of the API makes it into FF58

Actually, looks like I installed uBlock-Origin.

I use for example a password exporter tool and a password manager on FF which is not using an outside cloud or whatever to store my passwords, and the API to access that is not done yet so didnt make it into FF57

and due to that the devs of those add-ons cant update them to work on 57

and i don't like missing my backup solution for my passwords

noscript alows you for example to block the execution of javascript on pages you visit

Apparently those other two "sell" exceptions to blocking. Adblock/Adblock Plus. At least, those are the rumors.

was using adblock-plus before myself but since not all ads got blocked anymore i switched about a year ago or so

@FaheemMitha the aim is different IMO: you install a package if you want all compatible applications to benefit from it automatically, for every user (in every profile), but then you’re limited to the distribution’s updates; you install an add-on via the browser if you’re not root, or if you only care about the add-on for yourself (or you’re the only user)

I guess since the user is just me, it's ok to just do a browser add-on.

And I doubt Debian would update that package very often.

Though I don't know if the browser update is updated automatically either.
