@terdon It seems someone needs help.
@aurelien These days, it's mostly terdon.
Thanks @FaheemMitha
@terdon sorry to disturb but I do not understand why some people says the question is duplicate, since it is not and the response is not to. unix.stackexchange.com/questions/270008/…

@terdon his question suggest he want a response made with ifconfig, my question was the request to the best solution, and that append, with ip!
@terdon it could have been be with 'nmcli dev' (but a chance that no one suggest this one) because it oblige to use network manager.

@aurelien I know, and I left as comment suggesting that it probably shouldn't be closed. It is, however, a dupe. It's just that the older question doesn't have the ip based answers.
That's not a problem. Your question now has them and it will remain there. Dupes are not deleted.
@terdon ok ... thanks for your explanation ... sorry for the disturb

Ok, this is a bit puzzling. This probably has nothing to do with Unix, but why does SANE detect my Brother scanner even when it is turned off?
I'm trying to collect info about a gscan2pdf bug, and this unexpected behavior isn't helping.
