@StéphaneChazelas - the other day - for this question - what was wrong with the answer?

@mikeserv Hey, wb. Long time no see.

Hi, @FaheemMitha. How are you?

@mikeserv Doing Ok. Making stumbling attempts to learn some basic TeX.
It's been 20 years, and I just grasped (approximately) how an aux file works.
Embarrassing.

What is an aux file? (see? you're always smarter than somebody... but seriously, aux file?)

9:33 PM
@mikeserv You are not a TeX user, I take it? If not, no reason you would know what an aux file is.
I've been a LaTeX user since the mid 90s or so. And I usually have more curiousity, but TeX is always something I've found... daunting. Still do, really.
An aux file is just a file which TeX (or maybe LaTeX) uses to write down some information to use between invocations.
@mikeserv I see you are keeping the ghost thing.
Personally, I'd favor the Ghostbusters emblem if you are going that way. It's cheerier.
Hi @Braiam. Where is everyone?
What we need here is a party. With balloons.
