Tim has asked nearly 1% of all the questions on U&l
That is pretty impressive

@jesse_b What system would warn you about rm -r ~?

@terdon The only shell that I know has a built-in warning is zsh which warns when using rm * or rm path/to/dir/* (i.e., when using rm with a * glob).

9:27 AM
But not when using it with ~ then, right? I was just surprised by @jesse_b's message since I've never heard of anything warning about rm -r ~

I'd guess that referred to the systems where rm is aliased to rm -i

9:48 AM
@terdon Correct. Yes, I'm assuming he refers to setups where -i is always added to the start of the list of options with an alias. However, I believe that a later -f would cancel any -i option.

@fra-san ah, OK. Never used one of those.

@terdon I don't recollect having used one either, but I read here on U&L that Ubuntu is (was?) one of them; e.g. unix.stackexchange.com/a/666767/315749
So, not a niche thing, apparently

Ah, I use Ubuntu Server at work, and that doesn't have that alias in the default /etc/skel/.bashrc

@Kusalananda which f?

10:49 AM
nvm I misunderstood

The default browser for Chromium switched from Google to DuckDuckGo, but I didn't change anything.

@FaheemMitha tracker.debian.org/media/packages/c/chromium/…: “Change default search engine to DuckDuckGo for privacy reasons.”
I highly recommend apt-listchanges

@StephenKitt I use it, and normally skim it when it hits my inbox. But I missed that particular entry.
