@terdon I meant doing wild card searchesand selecting date ranges using a GUI.

If that wasn't already clear. And even if it is possible with a GUI, I'd rather use a command line.

@AndrasDeak As those question threads show, one can mount an MTP share. I still haven't done it. If I do so successfully, I'll comment here.

My personal subdirectory classification for binary files that I did not generate from text are "downloads" (for files downloaded directly from the net or email), "scans" (for things I scanned from paper), and most recently "screenshots" (for things I screenshotted). I was wondering if I should add a fourth category, "photos". Which would be photos I took. Though I'm tempted to just toss that into "downloads".

Though it doesn't fit the description that I gave. Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions?
